Too little advertising is like sowing too little seed. A farmer in planting I corn puts a number ot grains into each hill, and is satisfied if one good healthy stalk comos from such planting. It's the constant advertiser that is bound to attract attention. It's tho succession of bright, catchy advertisements th:.t refuse to be ignored. That the proper time must be allowed for.tho fruit to grow, ripen and be gathered is as true as that wheat cannot be prepared the dav after it is sown.
A Splendid Entertainment. A large and intelligent audience was entertninod Music Hall, last evening, by Mr. Robert Cumnock, Professor of Elocution of the Northwestern University, Illinois. Professor CiminocK is a cultivated reader and elocutionist of remarkable power and skill. He hushed the audience into silence, or provoked laughter at will, in a wide range of selections both grave and gay. He was equally at home in either heroic, pathetic or dialect reading, and gave an entertainment of unqualified pleasure.— Providence, R. /., Journal.

Twenty-live years ago Inst Sunday there occurred a union of hearts. In commemoration of that event Mr. and Mrs. Oeorgo \Y. Bowers, of Alamo, gave a dinner, celebrating their silver wedding. They had invited in numerous friends and relatives, but on account of the gloomy, inclement weather, only about forty-fivo were present. They seated themselves to a sumptuous repast and all expressed themselves as delighted with tho dinner. Immediatelv a!ter the dinner came the surprise to tho quarter of a century married couple. They received several elegant presents among them a lovely silver basket or cake stand from Mr. and Mrs. William L. Duncan, Greoncastle, Ind. a beautiful silver soup spoon, from the Hon. M. E. Clodfelter and wife, and an elegant silver tea set. from their four sons, besides many other lovely presents. They received several silver dollars, some of them coined iu 1866 as a delicato token of the time oi marriage. M. E. Clodfelter made tho presentation speoclii
