Some words rocon'lv dropped ly him, in an interview on the Presidential question, show that he has not lost his head. "This you may be assured of." said Mr. Streeter. "that if there are to be only two candidates, of the I'epublican and Democratic parties, witLTprotection and free trade, 1 sUind for protection. So do the fanners of this land. The farmers will not be led astray by false doctrines. They know what free sugar is due to. and they know what they owe to tho party that made it free."

V". H. Haut, writing from Washington to the Frankfort iVcuvs, says: •There is no justifiable reason why Frankfort should not have a 825,001) postofliee building! It can be gotten iy united and untiring effort. One of the prominent recommendations of the postofliee special agents meetings last week, was, that tho government should own postofliee .buildings in cities, of Frankfort's class. Lafayette, Fort Wayne and other cities to whose shoulders Frankfort does not have to tip-too, have gotten handsome donations, and what has been accomplished in thee:.' cities can come our way. It's a matter over which enterprising business men should dedicate some united thought We can get a bill for SUo.OOO through just as easy tw tlio change was made in the railroad election law. ..

The same remarks will apply to Crawfordsville. If Congressman Brookshire is tip to snulT he will see to it that such a plum as a 820,000 postofliee building lo 's not get away from him.

Cii.U'NCEY M. Depew paid a pleasant tribute to President Harrison the other day in an interview at Chicago. The idea, fostered, Mr. Depew said, by disnppointod ofliee-seekers, that President Harrison was a small man, mentally and physically, cold and narrow, became at one time the accepted belief of seventenths of the American people. He added that while Mr. Harrison did not have this in view in taking his trip across the continent, yet he accomplished the herculean task of talking to the whole people through the press at the places ho stopped at from day to day. so th-it they might know him better. There is no question that ho accomplished his task better than any one had ever done before. The people saw that they hail lieen misled. There was a universal change of public sentiment.

It was seen that the Chief Magistrate was fully equal to the requisites of his oflice. All good ctiizens will agree that Mr. DePew spoke nothing more than the simple truth,

Deafness is am sod by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imjierfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, Deafness is the result, aud unless tho inflammation can le taken out and this tulo restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mu cons surfaces. The exposition failed, and tlie guarantors paid the bill with the understanding, they claim, of being recompensed whenever the state board of agriculture could do so. The board recently sold the old fair grounds within the city for $275,000, and now the guarantors, on the .strength of due bills they liold, aro pushing claims for a large amount of that money. The laws of health are taught in the schools but not in away to be of much practical benefit and are never illustrated by living examples, which in many cases might easily be done. If Boine scholar, who had just contracted a cold, was brought before the school, so that all could hear tho dry, loud cough and know its significance see tho thin white coating on the tongue and later, as the cold developed, see the profuso watery expectoration and thin watery discharge from the nose, not one of them would ever forget what the first symptoms of a cold were. Tho scholar shouid then be given Chamberlain's Cough Hemedy freely, that all might see thnt even a severe cold could be cured in one or two days, or at least greatly mitigated, when properly treated as soon ns the first symptoms appear. This remedy is famous for its cures of coughs colds and croup.
