CO-EDUCATION IN WABASH COLLEGE Truly it is impossible to foretell what a day will bring forth. Five years or even one year ago it was considered a waste of time to discuss the subject of co-education in Wabash College. Such a thing was regarded as impossible, at least in the nineteenth century. Even last June when tho trustees went so far as to appoint a committee to investigate and report on the matter, verv few thought it more than a passing fancy But tho mighty truth is that co-educa-tion is coming toward Wabash College at a very rapid gait. In fact no one need bo surprised to see girls in those classic halls as soon as next fall. That committee was comjwsed of three trustees, one of whom was radically opposed to co-education, another as ardentlv in favor ot it, while the third frankly declared himself on tho fence and open to conviction. Evidently the report of the committee depends on this third member and it is known that he, after investigation and thought, has pronounced in favor of co-education. It is well understood that the trustees at their December meeting expect to devote most of their time to two subjects, the election of anew president andco-educn-tion. So there is every reason to believe that the committee's favorable report will be carefully considered if not adopted. It is ufeless to review here the arguments for and against. It is sufficient to say that nearlv every institution of standing in tho country hag become open to the girls and especially that in nil recently established colleges and universities no argument for excluding them is even brought forward. Wabash can never accomplish its highest purpose so long as it forces hundreds of ambitious young women who would naturally prefer to come here, to go to Hanover, the State University, DePauw and Butler. And she can no longer afford to do Crawfordsville girls the injustice of depriving the nof higher education. The eyes of the entire State will be turned toward Wabash during the December meeting of the trustees. We sincerely bopo the inevitable will not be delayed longer anil that the trustees, reading aright tho signs of times, will be a unit for progress.
Indianapolis wants the Democratic National Convention. If the city of concentric circles is in earnest let the people go to work regardless of party lines and get it. The way to do it is to show that the city has sufficient hotel accommodations for the large crowd that will be in attendance, that it will furnish a wigwam sufficient to hold 10,000 or 12,000 people, and place about 8 j(), 000 at the disposal of tho committee for necessary incidental expenses. If it can do this it will stand some show.
The amount of wheat which the United States will bo called upon send to help out the European jdeniand is a round 1,000.000,000 bushels, which will make a big holo in the surplus.

Photographing llor Ma.
Hois a young photographer, just starting in business and love. The other afternoon his girl's mother called for sitting, lln desired to make most favorable impression upon that portion of her mind which could appreciate photography, and so he became a trifle nervous in tho work. But he got her fixed finally, with her eyes fixed glassily on a certain object, as is the custom then he drew the cloth, took out .liis watch and counted off thirty seconds, restored the cloth and drew out the case. "Gracious!" he unintentionally ejaculated, "1 forgot to put in the plate."
The old liidv had to sit again, and she prepared for the ordeal, but with confidence in the operator considerably abated. He was more nervous now than before, and it was some few minutes before he had arranged to suit tho focus. Then the cloth was again removed, the watch again pulled out. Ho counted off the thirty seconds, removed tho cloth and drew out tho case. "Great heavens!" he groaned in a frightened voice, "1 forgot to pull out the slide!"
Tho prospective mother-in-law sprang to her feet, Bnatched up her hat and shawl, aud pausing long enough to inquire if he was drunk, shot out of tho door, leaving the pallid faced artist grasping a chair for support.
Muuaging a Hull.
A Brookfield man writes for the best way to manage a bull. If our Brookfield friend has got a bull on his premises, aud tho bull is well, ho doesn't want to manage it. All he has got to do is to get a few tilings hastily together, mortgage his place and steer straight for tho west. He might as well try to ward off a streak of lightning with a fifty cent paint brush as to manage a bull.
Truth In a Nutshell.
It has I teen satisfactorily demonstrated that when a man steps on a bar of soap which has been left on the top step it will start down stairs with him, and, though having much the best .start, will yet be overtaken and passed by him before it gets half way down. This sounds almost like an eastern allegory but every married man knows it is true. .I. M. BAILEY,

What spectacle is more disgusting than that of man. or woman with a skin disease which shows itsolf in pimples or blotehos on hands, arms, face and neck? It is simply impure blood. See what Braudreth's Pills did for a chronic, case: George Chapman, Pincening, Micli., says: "For years I was in tho Mounted Infantry in tho U. S. Army, residing during that time principally in Texas. Almost all of that time I had a chronic skin disease, characterized -by an eruption over tho entire surfaco of my legs and thighs, arms and chest. The doctors termed it eczema. I Jiad given up all hojjes of over being enrod, when Brandreth's Pills wore recommended to me. I concluded to try them, and I havo thanked God daily since then that S did so. I used them for alxmt tlitvo months and by that time was completely cured and have novor had any trouble since."
Tho laws of health aro tauglit in the schools but not in a way to lie of much practical benefit and nro never illustrated by living examples, which in many cases might easily be done. If somo scholar, who had just contracted a cold, was brought before tho chool, so thiit all could hear the dry, lou.d cough and know its significance see tho thin white coating on the tongno and later, lis the cold developed, see tho profuse watery expectoration and thin watery discharge from tho nose, not one of them would over forget what the first symptoms of a cold wore. Tho scholar should fihon be givon Chamlxirlnin's Cough Remedy frooly, that all might seo that oven a severe cold could be cured in one or two days, or at least greatly mitigated, "when properly troiited as soon as the first symptoms appoar. This remedy is famous for its cure3 of coughs colds and croup. It is made especially for these diseases and is tho most prompt and most relinblo medicine known for tho purpose. 50 coat bottles for sale by Nyo & Co.
