Golden Wedding of H. J. Webster anil Jane Palmer. Special to the Jounuil. .'

WAY.SXTOWN.

[ml., Nov. 25, IS',11.

Fifty years ago this a. 111. about uine o'clock Mr. Hugh .V. Webster and Miss Jane Palmer, of Chilicothe, Ohio, were united in holy wedlock, and they are so living to this day with fair prospects of continuing to do so for at least another decade. Their many friends finding out that this was their 50th wedding anniversary thought they could not show their love and esteem for them in a better way than by making them a donation. So headed by the ever generous Morris llerzog they proceeded to liiako up the amount required, which was done in a few minutes. The gift consisted in (lour, meats, fruits and canned goods in abundance, together with some lino clothing. Morris was appointed to deliver the goods to them will- the appropriate 1 eromony, which he did in good style. The scene was quite affecting, as it was a perfect surprise, and tears were caused to How in ureal abundance liv the good old jiooplo. In connection with the presents spoken of above the good wishes, and resjiects of every donor as well as every friend and neighbor accompanied them. To-day his children, as many as could possibly do so, with their families are taking dinner with him.

An Explanation forProl. Kritz, Prof. Kritz's remarks at the Farmers' institute in legard to the township libraries 011 Tuesday evening were jierhaps misunderstood. The impression he intended to convoy was that so far as any of the books were concerned from a scientific standpoint as beneficial to the fanners they were utterly worthless, lie said they were good in their dav and were the standard for that time.but science is rapidly advancing and the science of to-day is not the science of ten years ago. He said he had no reference to the standard books of liteiatiiro. Ttiere were many good books that ought to be saved, but there were many others that were utterly worthless. (In this point perhaps all will agree with him.

The melodrama is strongly constructed and Augustin Xeir, ille is a decidedly clever young actor. The support is good and the whole play has -go" in it. A second visit here would probaiilv prove 1 successful than the first. The eompanv carries a great deal of special scenerv and the stage sotting last evening was particularly good. Murniinj Cnin,i
