A PERMANENT ORGANIZATION.
Tho Republicans of Union Township Begin Polishing Their Armor. Tho small court room was filled last evening by tin enthusiastic crowd of representative Republicans, who met to e!Tect tbo organization of a Republican club for Union township. Tbo meeting was called to order by T. 11. Ristineand tho reports of tho committees appointed at tbo previous meeting were called for. lion. F. M. Dice made tbo report for the committee on constitution and bylaws and the articles of association wore road and carried with a whoop. In brief the committee reported tbo following: Tho club is to bo known as the Morton Republican Club of Union Township, Montgomery county, Indiana. Its object is to promulgate Republican principles and by all honorable means to secure the election of Republican nominees. Tho meetings of tho club shall bo held fortnightly and at each meeting some political question shall cotno up for discussion a programme committee shall select tho subject for discussion two weeks in advance, and then appoint those who aro to lead tho discussion in making speeches. The work of tho club it will bo obsorved from tho foregoing is purely educational and is in nowise of star chamber or inqiusitorial nature. It is a labor of love and patriotism and no Republican in Union township should fail to enlist bis name.
Tho committee on officers made the following report which was accepted: President, Fiod 0. Bandel.
Vice-Presidents, Durnont Kennedy, •T. S. Stover, Robert Hopkins, Anthony Oaughan, George W. Murkley, Win. A. Shanks, George O. White, Fred Millor, D. W. Milbolland, H. II. McDnniel.
Secretary, J. A. Greene Assistant Secretary, Harvey Wilkinson. Treasurer, A. F. Ramsey.
Executive committee, F. M. Dice, II. S. Braden, C. II. Travis, A. B. Anderson, W. T. Brush.
Programme committee, T. H. B. McCain, W. T. Whittington, W. E. Humphreys.
The committee appointed to select a hall reported that a good hall was in prospect for a permanent headquarters for tho club, but as yet no contract hud been closed. After receiving a largo class into full membership tho club adjourned to moot again a week from next Friday night. There are now ov,-r 100 members of tbo club and this will bo moro than doubled nt tho next meeting. Everything is moving and tho campaign of '92 has already opened in Montgomery county.
A Wonderful Demonstration. There was not a largo audience i.t Music Hall last evening but judging from tho thunders of applause which constantly greeted tho oars of the passers on the street one would judge that tho houso was packed and Booth & Barrett on tbo boards. Dr. Flint last night guaranteed for himself' largo audiences for tho rest of tho week. His performance last night was simply wonderful and that is all there is about it. Ho obtained five oxcellont subjects out of those who volunteered to go upon the stage and had them completely under his control. At their comic antics the audience shrieked with laughter. Tho performance was not all attendod with laughter, however, as some of tho feats caused them to bold their breath. Ho thrust a noedlo through tho faces and wrists of five slooping patients and after about half tbo audience bnd viowed them by going upon tbo stage, Dr. Flint had Doctors Duncan and Chainbors withdraw tbo thread and do a little stitching on their own account. The patients experienced no disconiforture upon being recalled. Tho crowning performance of tho ovening was the running of ono subject's pulso to 220, Drs. Dunenn and Chambers holding his wrists. The pulso of the same subject was nlso brought down to 40. The breaking of a large stono weighing 300 pounds upon the rigid body of ft young lady whose heels rested upon ono chair and whose head rested upon another, creatod great aj)plnuso. Flint himself was unable to break it by two terrific blows with a sledgo hammer, so Frod Bandel took a hand and broko it at tbo second blow ho struck.
Mary and Joe.
Mrs. Mary McKinsey has applied for a divorce from Joseph McKinsey through her attorney, N. P. H. Proctor. Sho chargoB tbo defendant with drunkenness, failure to provide and abandonment, enough cortainly to wnrrant her roloaso from tho galling chains of matrimony. Joe tried to get a divorco himself but bad tbo case dismissed about a week ago in tbo circuit court. Things are coming Mary's way.

Tbo committee appointed reported favorably on tho widening of Green street botweon College and Franklin, also on tho oxtonsion of tho water mains on south Green street to tho croamory and the establishment of a firo plug at that place.
The city attornay reported that tho appraisement of tho engine house No. 2 and Mayor Carr was empowered to sell it for the amount of tbo appraisement or as much moro as bo could get.

Tho following startling resolution was then introduced by Councilm Scott and was passod all tho Councilmen voting for it except Vanarsdall:
WIIERKAB,
the present Water Works
Company of this city have seen fit to tear from the wall of its engino houso tho slab of stone on which
waB
engraven
the names of tbo council and city otlicoi a who were in power nt tho time of the putting of water works in tho city, of whom two aro now dead and nono that are now living are holding oflico, excopt our worthy Marshal and whereas said stono was torn from said building and broken into pieces by ordor of said company, as wo believe through spite, anger and mnlice, and not of necessity.
Resolved, by tho council that wo honor and respect those whoso names were upon said slab of stone and believe that the citizens, regardless of party, considor them benefactors of our beautiful city, and wo denounce tbo act of tearing down and breaking said stone by company as low, moan, contemptible and deserving of the scorn and censure of every good citizen.
The resolution was drafted by Thomas .L.Stillwell who was Mayor of tho city, at the time of tbo putting in of tho water works.
Tbo tax levy was then reported and passed It is 75 cents on evory §100 worth of taxable property in tbo city. Last year the levy was 85 cents, and the decrease is both radi-ml and gratifying. The poll tnx is 50 jnts and the dog tax 50 cents and SI on male and female dogs respectively.
It was resolved to put in iron troughs to take tho placo of the several drinking fountains.
The street commissioner was instructed to clean out all tbo alleys and sowers.
On next Mondny evening there will bo a Bpccial meeting of tho council for tho consideration of important business.
New Mail Boxes.
