IT is the opinion of good judges that Crawfordsville Las never seen such crowd of people as is here to-day.
OF the Helen Gougar plan of cam paign against McKinley in Ohio the New York Advertiser, a Democratic newspaper, says: "It is the programme of 188S over again. While talking for prohibition from the Ohio stump, Mrs. Gougar's shapely arms are figuratively, if not literally, bared to the shoulders for the Democratic ticket. It is not a new trick of the so-called Prohibitionists to pretend to be working with great zeal for the furtherance of temperance, while they are in reality interested in the defeat of the Kepublisan ticket. McKinley will not, perhaps, lose a great deal of sleep on account of the appearance of Helen on the scene. She is more pestiferous than powerful."
I'. T. BAUNUM is dead and has practically been dead for years. The great show of which he laid the foundation has been built up to its present success and magnificence by the efforts of J. A. Baily. Mr. Barnuin's great partner. It was Bailey who first introduced such splendid features as "Nero," and in reality revolutionized the show business. Barnuin planted and Barnum watered, but Bailey gave the increase. We would cast no reflection on the world's greatest showman, Barnum, but the ago has gone by and loft the features ho made famous, and now the demands of the public have been more than met by the ideal creations, the foresight and business push of Mr. Bailey, who liko Murillo, has become greater than his master.

A Champagne Bath.
Very frequently a champagne hath has been referred to in illustrating some freak of profligacy. Less than a half-dozen years ago a Louisville man took a genuine champagne bath in Rufer's hotel. Bis name was Crow, and ho was a sporty man. A relative died near Lexington and left him a big lump of property. He bought enough champagne to fill a bathtub at llufer's and plunged Into it. On the side he had champagne to drink and a dozen companions to drink It. Two year? later he was on his uppers and hadn't a nickel.—Louisville Commercial.

"VOU ARE 80 YOUNG TO SUFFER I"
This occurrence is frequent. Young girls in public schools where great rivalry exists, often try to accomplish too much, aud soon discover that their delicate organizations are unequal to the mental strain. Then the ambitious child is taken from school to rest" in disappointment.
This is wrong. The ambitions of a child should be aided, not blasted. Thoughtful, intelligent mothers know v.'lmt to do. Thousands of bright eyed, rosy cheeked, cucrgetic and lovable school girls regard Mrs. Pinkham as their mainstay. They arc right.

Art tat Ic Advert Initio.
Undoubtedly the Ivory Soap people deserve credit for tho best grade of illustrations now being used for advertising purposes. The series of full-page drawings which have been appearing on the last page of the Century represents Bome of the most capable bookjand magazine artists in the country. The series mast have cost no small figure. As yet the "way up" artists do not sign the work they do for advertisers, but I npprehend that it will not be long ere we shall see in the advertising columns such names as George Wharton Edwards, E. W. Kemble, etc. Such men as these bring to their work, besides more mechanical skill, a trained imagination and an artistic conception of things. These qnalities, when used in connection with advertisements, command scarcely less interest than when used in the ordinary literary way.—Printer's Ink, August 10, 1801.
