FRANK WYNEKOOP'S DILEMMA.
The Swoet Summor Girl That Know itim Will Know Him No More. 1'rank E. Wynokoop, who graduated fr.tni Wnliash Colloge last .Tune, is tho wildest and most disgusted man in all llooHerdom and there in a Htrong probability that their is a little fairy over in Illinois, where fairies grow, who is tho most shocked and puzzled litile sprite iu nil Suckerdoni. And thereby hangs a tale. After graduating with the traditional honors Mr. Wynokoop girded up his loins and.left for Illinois to sell books. In one of tho places ho canvassed ho meta beautiful young lndy and was perfectly charmed. She scorned real glad to have Frank "foolin' around" and everything went on swimmingly. Frank was engaged to teach school north of Crawfordsville this winter and finally with many sighs and a few tears, of course, tons himself away from tho Illinois charmer and returned here. As ho went about preparing for his winter's irk, however, his thoughts constantly reverted to the most charming girl in the world's fair State, and like Longfellow's ".lohn Alder.'' As he it in his room he was forever scribbling tho name of his "I'riscilla" over the blank piper on his desk. All '.his was very well but the consequences were just
a vful. Saturday ho received a largo package of his darned and mended half hose, drawers and undershirts, all stamped with his full name. Ho wrapped them up inn pieco of blank paper and took them down town to send tlieni out to his boarding house in the country. The carrier did not show np and accordingly as Mr. Wynokoop did not wish to carry back tho package to tho room ho stepped into the express oilico and asked if ho could leave it there a day or so. Portuission was given and Frank went nway. Ho called for it yesterday und was stunned nnd horrified to learn that it had been shipped to bis II inois girl whoso name and address had been found writton on tho bottom of the package. One of tho office men who know nothing of Wynekoop's leaving it there had just shipped it on without delay, leaving tho charges to bo paid at tho other end of tho lino. By tho time tho mistake was discovered tho little fairy hud no doubt opened tho packago in glad anticipation of Gunthor's candy but found instoad half hoso and drawers. It was pretty tough on her, but how abont Frank? The sun has coasod to shino for him, nnd boforo him all is sorrow and groat darkness. There are some things that just can't be explained.1

Noro Will Not be Delayed on Acoonnt of fiain or 'Weather. Fred Lawrence, one of tho numerous genial gentlomon who travel ahoad of JSunmm & ]5uiley's circus, wus in
he
Juuuxau sanctum last Saturday. He wanted particularly to impress tho people with tlio importance of "Noro." As tho words floated niellifljiously from liia mouth our shorthand reporter caught tho following: "Rain doos not intorforo with tho performance of tho mammoth spectacular 'Nero, or the Destruction of Kouie.' It is presented under tho absolutely waterproof tent of Bnrnum & Bailey's greatest show on earth. It comos liore after a season of three months in London where hundreds wore nightly turned awny, and from six weeks' run in Madison Square, Now York. It is the most expensive and elaborate spectacular over exhibited. The greatest attention has boon paid to all the details, the correctness of tho coptumos and tho scenery, and tho training of tho actors, of whom there aro 1,000.
It is tho only play or spectacular u.' imy kind which has 400 dancers of high repute in tho ballet. Those are seen to especial ndvnntnge in tho vestal dancooa in tho lost tablenu, when Noro has finished his repast and turns to his evening's pleasure. Three tableaux or acts constitute tho spectnclo. Tho first represents the scene outside tho gntes of Homo, tho second reveals the city and tho third pictures tho arena where tho games so dear to the Koman populace aro going on. A fierce gladiatorial combat is one of tho many splendid fentures. Those who liavo read I3eu Hur will especially enjoy tho chariot races, while camel and olophant races will help to fill out tho programme.
In tho third tableau wo soo Noro filled with a groat foar, dying by his own hand in tho midst of gorgeous train and surrounded by all tho evidences of his luxurious and sinful life. The glorious apotheosis, tho dawn of Christianity, niakos a fitting cliinnx tho spectacle.

The Degree Staff of Triumph Lodge Visits TkiB City and Exemplifies the Secret and Unwritten Work Before a Large Assemblage of the Members of the Order
Everybody Highly Pleased. Tho above headlines foretell the whole nrticlo. The famous degreo sunt of Triumph lodge No. 291, Daughters of Rebekuh I. O. O. F., of Lafayette, pays Martha Washington Lodgo No. 13, of this city, a visit and exemplifies the degree work by initialing a number of candidates, and all who witnessed the work were treated to a royal feast.
As noted in yesterday's JoritSAfc tho visitors arrived horo on the 5:05 p. tn. Monon. Thoy wore mot at the depot by a committee and escorted to tho Knights of Pythias hall, whore tlicv woro given a hearty welcome by a largo number of our citizens who belong to the order. Elegant refreshments were served in the banquot room adjoining tho lodgo room which had boon especially prepared for tho occasion by tho ladies of tho order, and was splendidly gotten up und served. After fully satisfying the inner man they again repaired to the lodge room, preparatory to opening of tho meeting. Tho lodge was called to order anil properly o|xiu«I by tho regular officers of Martha Washington Lodge, who, after transacting rotino business, vacated their stations, which places were filled by the visiting team, who conferred the Kebekah degree upon the following persons: Mr. and Mrs. John Layson, Mr. and Mrs. McCorinick, Mr. and Mrs. Barnes. Mrs. ltobert Trontman, E. l. W'iIkoii. llarrv Mikels and W. .Snyder.
The degreo work was exeellcnllv done and was much praised by all who were present, [t would bo imposbibl for any ono lo criticize any member of tho visiting stalT for tlieir work lasl evening, for it was perfect in evert part, and while we should like to speak of thoso who take the most prominent parts in tho highest of terms we can not do it justly, nnd ml we can say is that thoy are "all tho best."
Following is tho porsonlo of the degree staff of Triumph Lodge No. 291 Daughters of llebekah, of Lafayette.
Past Grand—Mrs. Wm. Andrews. Noble Grand—Miss Katie Howell. Vice Grand—Miss Louise Howell. Conductress—Airs. W. P. (innv.s. Warden—Mrs. W. C. DeWilt. Chaplain—Mrs. Agnes Myers. Banner Bearers—Mrs. Geo. W. llice, Mrs. W. IX Owens and Miss Carrie Schenkenberger.
Altar Bearers—Misses Mary Sehenkenberger and Ella Boothroyd. Insido Guardian—Miss Francis Lucas.
It. S. to N. G.—Miss Sarah Howell. L. S. to N. G.—Mrs. Chos. Powell. K. S. to V. G.—Mrs. S. M. Lonergan. L. S. to V. G.—Mrs. II. C. Sheltniier. lioboknh—Miss Lottie Bonlds. Abraham—Mr. W. P. Graves. Elizah—Mr. Ed Cunningham. Organist—Miss Willoughbv. The initiations boing over at a little after 10 o'clock, speoch making was then in ordor and short addresses were made by a number of visitors and our citizens. Ed Cunningham, ot Lafayette, a humorist of groat nolo, and well kuown throughout Ireland, recited a nuinbor or pieces, to tho merriment, of all jiresonl. Miss ittio Boulds. also ot Lafayetto, presided at tho organ and sang a fow pieces, which was much enjoyed.
Every member of tho ordor of Od.i Fellows, should bo proud of the ordor ot Bobokuh, for tho much good thoy have accomplished and are now doing for tho ordor in general.
But we want to warn Lafayette to "look a little out" for wo-feel that-that the Bobekah's of this city will now organize a degree staff, nnd will leave nothing undouo to bo strong competitors of Trinmph Lodgo staff, for tho champion degree team of tho State of Indiana.
The meeting last evening was a very enthusiastic ono and very largely attended, there being nearly 150 present. The visitors returned homo by tho midnight train, highly delighted with the good tiino enjoyed while horo.
Long may the banner ot "Triumph" wave ovor tho Lafayetto lodgo is tho earnest wish of tho Bebokahs of this city and also of
he ouhnal.
Wo aro much indebted to George W. Kico, ot tho LuFuyetto Call, for tho above nccount of tho Odd Follows' mooting last evening.
At Musio Hall To-Night.
Tho pieco was splendidly staged and acted and thoro was no ono in tho cast undeserving of favorable mention. Miss Proscott's Cleopatra is a most impressive imjer8onation, nnd she so identifies herself with Mr. Haggard's conception of tho character that there is at times actually startling reality iu her delineation. Pride nnd humility, love and scorn, crualty nnd tondorness, succeeded oach other rupidly, und in many varying phusos, but tho art of the notross condors tho various transitions natural and blonds tho changing emotions into ono artistic, harmonious whole. As Harinachis, B. D. MacLoan has opportunity for souio very fine acting, nnd ho avails himsolf of it most successfully. Allot tho pathos, lovo, ambition, despair, nnd final solf-ronun-cintion of tho character aro limited by him with dexterous art. His acting is dignified and forceful, nnd the stronger passngos of his linos are rendered with imposing effect. Tho costumes woro magnificent nnd tho scenery appropriate nnd elegant.—liroiihhjiiSliiinlJiyil Union
