Well, they nil canio in yesterday to soo the fair. A perfect diiv, a perfect fair and a perfect jam all worked together and strangers from abroad fairly held up their hands in amazement. They weren't used to it, for In no other Indiana county can be found sueli a great and glorious fair. As early as 4 o'clock yesterday morning buggies began to roll into the city from this and all ad joining counties and as the day pro grossed every street leading to the fair grounds was crowded anil thronged with vehicles and pedestrians, all pushing eagerly on to the common center.

The grounds were looking fresh and at their best and the great crowd which surged back and forth all day had to contend with neither dust nor mud. The people were all good looking, too, md put the crowds whi.-h have attended all the neighboring fairs to the blush. Every nook and comer of the round were occupied and never before was such a scene of busy life presented there. Everybody came and two or three brought their dinners. The boys ill had their best girls and fairly stuffed them with ice cream and peanuts and then fairly rode them silly on the merry-go-round or scared tho dear creatures into hysterics at Wild .Tim's blood-curdling cowboy show. Everybody and everything was liberally patronized by the visitors who displayed their money in a way which clearly demonstrated that McKinley prices and good crops are just about the stuff.

This is the llrst year the fair association has paid much attention to school work but the results of the experiment made on this line at the fair this year are most gratifying. Tho declamation contests were splendid and the awards made for other school work were made deservedly as all tho exhibits were first class. Agricultural hall is hardly as full of exhibits as it has been in times past bill the displays are all of a very superior 1 uiility, ipiantit indeed seeming to be •sacrificed to this end. The superintendents were all exceedingly- busy and alnost as many people visited agricultural hall as visited tloral hall. Here is to lie found one of the greatest exhibits of the kind ever made in Indiana, Poultry fanciers say that tliev have attended many excellent poultry fairs where the exhibitions were not nearly so large or line as the display at this county fair. Every coop was full anil new ones crowded into everv available space. The birds are most beautiful and not a shoddy looking fowl can bo found in the whole departmert. Competition here was very bitter and the awards, while not objectionable, caused some pretty sore people to tloat about to-day. They were made as follows
