CANON CITV, COL. ept. Seven men held up the east-bonnd Hio (iratule train No. 4. Monday night near Cotopaxi. The highwaymen compelled the ilagman at Texas Creek to give up all the torpedoes in his possession and also forced him to flag the train. As soon as it stopped the engineer and lircman were deliberately held up at the point, villi's. rireman Alter was relieved of his line gold watch and then, at the muzzle of seven ritlcs, he was forced to pick the. lock and break in the doors of the baggage ear under lire from the express messenger, who knew that something was wrong-, as soon as the train was stopped.

The mail ear doors were all broken out but nothing was taken from it. Expros'. }essenger Angel made a determined resistance anil used a revolver to good advantage, but whether anyone was killed or not is not known, as lie was compelled to shoot through the glass portion of the door. The light was 11 fierce one, though it only hinted a few moments. Then one of the masked men placed the muzzle of the revolver against his temple and under pressure of a threat against his life ho opened the safe door. The highwayman took Sl.tiuu from the strong box. Horses were in readiness and as soon as the robbery was accomplished they lied to Westmountain valley. They did not disturb the passengei, evidently not wishing to stay longeron the ground than the actual necessities of the occasion demanded.

A posse was summoned ly the sheriff and left for the scene at once. The hheritY got together all the men he eoulil summon on such short notice. They are all, however, men who have seen service, and will make a lively cliaso after the brigands.

A dispatch from Canon City says a large posse has left for the scene of the robbery. Horses, guns, ammunition and provisions were sent out on a special train. The famous Trinidad bloodhounds have arrived in charge of ISob ltramlett and four other oflleers. The hounds took the scent eagerly, and it is thought a capture will be made Wednesday. The Rio Grande company and the express company have three detectives at work, and the secret service Is also represented. The robbery is conceded to be the work of "l'eg Leg" and the McCoy band of toughs and murderers.

I.YNCnuTJ A .MISSOintI HANK UollKKlt. KANSAS CITV, MO., Sept. a.—One of the desperadoes who robbed the. Conter (Mo.) bank Monday afternoon, was captured about '20 miles from Corder, and about half of the stolen money wa.s found in his possession, lie gave his name as Andrew Murrcll. It is reported that Deputy Sheriff Jackson and City Marshal Dean, who had the robber In charge and were taking him to Lexington, the county seat, were met by a inobof enraged citizens who overpowered them, took their prisoner and lynched him. The other robber is being closely pursued.

A Burrisi! COI.FMMAN IiOIIHKn. WiNNKi'KO, Man., Sept 2. Word has reached here of a daring robbery at Nelson, 11. C., a mining town on tin Kootenai river. An armed man entered the Canadian Pacific railroad depot and, after binding the agent opened the safe and secured ?!2,»00. Another man came in at the time and he was made to deliver what cash he had. The robber then disappeared.
