VERY DISGRACEFUL. Vj
Tho Bigamistic Marriage ol Malachi Bill Scott ami Mary George Openly Consummated.
Of all the notoriously bad, wicked and disgraceful marriages that wero ever consummated that of Malachi Hill Scott and Mary George caps the climax. The character of these parties is only too well known. They are tho lowest of the vermin of the earth, without regard for self respect or public d.x'eney. Openly and brazenly in their depravity and bestial ignorance they have long violated every law of virtue and morality. Diseased, vicious, and depraved their union in marriage rellocts upon tho whole community. Especially is this true when it is a well known fact that Scott is the husband of another woman and is now guilty, knowingly and openly, of the grave crime of bigany. If tho grand jury pasues over his case without returning an indictment tho granu jury is not doing its duty. The prosecutor should make a note of this and seo to it that the case receives proper attention. To give some idea of tho marriage preliminaries would be the best way of showing to just what extent the marriage law of Indiana was disgraced yesterday- Mary Gwrge, a very bad anci wicked woman, who has spent most of tho last six months in jail, was yosterday coining in from the Black Hills, with an pally bad companion, when they wore approached by this man Scott. Scott began quarrelling with tlio George woman and ended the dispute by knocking her down. As she arose, dazed and bleeding she was greeted with a proposal of marriage which alio immediately aecepti d. The bi 1 liaut br'degroom had not a cent in tli world and his rags tluttered gaily ii tho wind as ho started out accompanied by his blooming bride to hunt up tin nocessary two dollars. They were followed by a laughing hooting mob of boys and when Scott's mother very foolishly gave him a two dollar bill the fun was furious. A largo crowd of sneering and boisterous men and boys assembled at Cumberland's office to see the sport, but were doomed to dissapointment. The 'Squire was not in so
