very fine work. The doctor is an expert in extracting difficult teeth. It has been understood by many that Dr. Allen was working with another dentist this is a mistake, as his office in the Wirt block, over Wert's furniture store, is connected with no other dentist.— Frankfort News.

John Wanamaker's Way.

Postmaster-General Wanamakor, has achieved some .success as a business man and his ideas therefore should have much weight with all merchants. In an interview he said recently: "I never in my life used such a thing as a poster or dodger, or handbill. My plan for fifteen years lias boon to buy so much space in a newspaper and fill it up with what I wanted. I would not give an advertisement in a newspaper of live hundred circulation for livo thousand dodgers or posters."

Praying for Time.

The Board of Beviow is head over oars iu work and they perspire furiously as they sit at work in the littlo room off the Auditor's office where Mr. Isaac Vance used to sit before he fell in the vault and dislocated his shoulder. They portioned the connty commissioners yosterday for an extension of two week's in their time. Tho commissioners will settle the question next Monday and the reviewers state that if their time isn't extended that thoirwork will of necessity bo done in a very unsatisfactory manner.

He was employed by one John Swoitzer to attompl to regain a tract of land which Sweitzer had lost after litigation which occupied twolvo years. HiB former attorneys had given np the case in despair but Mr. Humphreys taking hold of it for one-fourth of what ho could get succeeded in having the last decision reversed which was equal to a final judgment in his client's favor. Tho property is worth SCO,000 and Mr. Humphreys is preparing to pocket 815, 000 as his shar6 of the enterprise. Ballard is a suburb of Seattle and the property is constantly increasing in value.

THE BPIRITED SPORES,

They Settle Some Difficulties This Morning Before Mayor Uarr. Well, our friends, the Spores, came to trial this morning before Mayor Carr and Mrs. Hattie Spore and Miss RoBetta were both fined $10.40, much to their disgust. For some time past there has been bad blood between the families of Mrs. Elizabeth Spore and Mrs. Hattie Spore. Finally they had a big racket one day last week and in the heat of passion had each other pulled for provoke. Now this was all uncalled for, but they did it and henoe couldn't complain when the crowd laughed at tho testimony in the Mayor's court. Tho first witness was Mrs. Hattio Spore. She stated that upon tho day of tho racket she had gone over to the home of her sister-in-law Elizabeth, bearing a bucket of butter milk as a poaceoffering and had requested the return of a box of matches she had loaned Elizalioth's outfit some time previously. She had hardly gotten in the house before Uosetta came at her and demanded to know why she had told lies on he^ This Hattio denied whereupon llosetta called to her Bister-in-law: "Peg, come come in here and settle these lies, cause someone has got to swoller 'em right here." Peg came in and stated that Hattio had told her very nanghty' things about Rosetta and at this stage Hattie started for home. Rosetta gave her a lively tongue lashing as she loft, dared her to roll up her sleeves and fight, and even accused her of killing hoi baby, which died some time ago. She finally got away, however, and ran homo.

Mrs. Elizabeth Spore testified that Hattie had been over to her home a number of times before and attempted to pick a fuss. (This seemed to amuse llattie greatly for she laughed dorisivoly ha! hn! ha! and clapped her hands with a great show sarcasm.) On tho morning of the final row Elizabeth said that as soon as Hattie was in tho homo Rosetta approached hor quietly and asked in a most pleasant and amiablo voice what she had been lying about her for. This Hattie denied whereupon Peg was called in to prove it and then Hattie said it was all true. This caused Uosetta to exclaim, "Oh, you old thing, you, you picked up fight with my brother last summer, but if you want anything now, just lay down your pail and roll up your sleeves and I'll fix you. I'll give you all yon want." RoBetta and Feg bore out this testimony and swore that Huttie had been very abusive, too, and had declared on her way over that she meant to raise something else than heaven. At the conclusion of the testimony Mrs Elizabeth was asking to lie excused when her daughter Rosette interrupted hor saying, "Don't bo skeered, mother." "I ain't skeered," retorted Elizabeth in roaring tones, "I ain't skeered and I ain't afraid to siiy all I know 'fore any man in this house, cause God is looking at me and knows Tin truthful." When the Mayor finei. Rosetta and Hnuio, tho former laughod and the lattor cried, bnt Elizabeth striding up before tho Mayor's desk cried in a loud voice, "Ain't my word good?" "Oil, I tell you I wouldn't dare to lie on oatli like some folks, I'd 1)0 afoard the Lord would pop down through the roof and choke men. I've been livin' hero 38 years and I've never been in this Court house afore, but1 I'll slay Rosy's line and I want these here pestiferous folks to stay home after this and let me alone."

Superintendent McAlevey to Proceed to Its Purchase at Once. The gas line superintendent, John McAlevey came over from Indianapolis last night armed with authority to purchase the right of way for a pipe line to extend from the Sheridan gas fields to Orawfordsville by way of Thorntown, This clinches tho matter and demonstrates beyond a doubt that we will have gas to lieat our houses next Wintor. Mr. McAlevey attended by Engineer Sharp and hiB corps of surveyors went this morning to Garfield to muke some changes in the line so as to got more desirable crossing at the croek and throw tho line northeast of the present entrance to Orawfordsville. They will also lay out the line to Darlington and a four-inoh pipe will be thrown into that town at the company's risk, a very liberal undertaking on its part, and one which should be appreciated by the citizens of the town. To-morrow Mr. McAlevey will go to Thorntown and from that place will come on through to Orawfordsville purchasing the right of way as be goes. Little difficulty is an ticipated in effecting the purchase, as all the farmers except a few near Darlington are very reasonably inclined.
