One-armed Charley Hayes got obstreperous Saturday night at the Big Four station and proceeded to tear up the earth. He hopped unto Hamp Harley, tho bus man, and cursed him in a highly entertaining manner. Mr. Harloy had him arrested this morning and ho was given the customary dose by Mayor Carr.

A number of invited guests were presont who enjoyed the affair thoroughly. The Y. M. 0. A. Lecture Course. Tho lecture committee of the Y. M. C. A. has begun already to arrange for the lecture course next Winter. None of tho attractions of last yoar will bo reengaged, as tho committee deem it a good plan to have an entirely new list. As last year there will bo two locturos and throe concerts. A DRUNKEN ROW.
The Brave Sojer Boys of Waynetown Load Up and Oome to Grief. Company of tho Second Bogiment hails from Wayntown, this county, and contains a number of quiet, unassuming gentlemen, but the same can not bo said of the company as a unit. Among its membership are found several of the toughest, loudeHt, roughest boys in IJoosierdom, nnd the way they inovitably proceed to load up and raise Sheol tho moment they Btrike Crawfordsvilie rollocts seriously upon their bringing up, ns well as upon their hightoned idoaB of SLCial etiquette on which tho avernge Waynetown youth is wont to prido himself. Yesterday Company II arrived in town to await the midnight train which should carry them to the Stato military encampment at Fort Wayne. They rode through from Waynetown in wagons, along the hot, dusty roads nnd as they nenred Crnwfordsville tho longing for cool, foaming beer rose in their minds above the long ing for tho glory nnd renown of war. They got both, however. Just how thej got beor is unexplainable, of course, as yesterday waB Sunday and all our saloons were closed. But those Waynetown fellows are shrewd chaps, nnd yon have to rise before sunup to circumvcni them. So in somo way or other they really did get a littlo beer, jwrhnps four kegs, not enongli though to havo affected their hends if it hadn't been for that long rido through the sun. Il would l)e usoleas to deny, however, that somo of the boys were full, yes, gloriously full, nnd when a Waynetown boy is full ho is npt, like his Crawfordsville cousin, to be a little noisy and ostentatious. About half a dozen, or maybe a dozen and a half of these brave soldier boys ran up against about an equal nnmber of CrawfordBvillo bucks along in tho evening in tho roar of a well known Washington street saloon. Tin
CrawfordBvillo boys had tho advantage of their opponents in thnt they were noler enough to see. Naturally then they got the best of it and after a bloody fight of a quarter of an hour, which was more like real war than the boys ever saw beforo or want to see again, the members of Company yelled "nongh." They were very sorry lroking lot, clothes dirty and torn, faces bruised and bloody, and they wore an all around air of helpless, hopeless imbecility. No one was injured severely except a young man named Casner who was struck in tho face with a brick nnd who will probably carry a senr, as a tender remembrance ot his wild youth, to his grnve. Although this young man's face was mashed in, ho persisted in nccompnnying his coinpnny to Fort Wayne and went up with them last night.
Thoro wore half a dozen other bloody scraps in which Waynetown chivalry took part nnd uBuully enmo off second best. In tho nlloy between Mnhornoy's nnd Tannenbaum's stores a bad Crawfordsville boy nnd Waynetown trooper clnwod skin off each other's faceB in a scandalous manner, while in tho neighborhood of tho livery bams on Market were several other soul-stirring engagements which rivaled in fierceness if not in magnitude, tho battle of the Wilderness. There is no doubt b'lt that when another war breaks out Company will bo found at the front "feitilizing tho fields with patriotic blood."
Unworthy of Patronage.
There is a woman in Crnwfordsville onnvnssing tho town for Chicngo concern which offer to sell the Indies nil kinds of goods at much lower prices than our homo merchants sell nt. She sells flvo years' membership in tho nssociation for $5.50 which entitlos tho members to tho cheap prices. THE JOOHNAI, bolievos this association unworthy tho pntronnge of tho Crawfordsville public for this reason if no other, thnt it will take money out of town to an outside firm who will nover patronizo Crawfordsville to tho oxtent of a cent. In tho Becond place it stands to reason thnt'goods can not bo bought in Chicago for half the prico they are sold by our merchants. McClure, Levinson, Bonntroo, Bisehoff, Myers &. Chami, Campbell Bros., and others do not make 100 per cent, profit. Tho woman claims to havo Botne of tho best people in town on her list but we hopo those she may see from this on will have homo pride enough to refuse her. We also predict that tlioso who havo taken memberships will regret it.
Ohoir Boys, Social.
The Choir Boys of the St. John's Episcopal church will give an ico o.roam social this evening at tho homo of tho rector, Rev. A. K. Glover. Besides refreshments a literary and musical programme will be given. Admittance 10 cents. All invited
