.Hocuin Street.
The city commissioners vieved the proposed extension of Hocnm street yesterday and will recommend tho improvement to the council next. Monday evening. Tho extension will cut through the Itai'h.'l Galey property on oast Wnba.-h Avenue at the east end between Jell'erson and Wabash, thus improving these choice lots very ma teriallv.
S [Uire Clark's Condition.
Squire Clark, who suffered in some mysterious manner such severe injures last Monday evening, Las improved so far ax to be able to answer "yes" or "no1 to |iic8lions put, but can make no further conversation. It is pretty definitely settled that he fell from his buggy between tho wheel and bed and was dragged in this way some distance. Hits recovery is now hoped for.
The Assessment in i'rankfort. Property owners will doubtless be in terested in learning how tho assessment in otir neighboring city of Frankfort compares with that in Crawfordsvillo. Messrs. liamsay and Elmore, of the Board of lteview, compared the two assessments yesterday, being assisted by Nate Lucas, of Frankfort, a late resident and property holder of this cityThey found that on a low estimate the Crawfordsvillo assessment ran about, 30 per cent, higher than that of Frankfort This will bo cheerful news to our taxpayers.

The Fair Association lias about completed a contract with the Ladie's Female Band of Trenton, Michigan, to furnish music during tho county fair. This band is composed of fifteen pieces and is one of tho ltest bands in tlie country, constantly receiving calls from the Pacific to the Atlantic coast. Tho ladies are all beautiful and have beep, collected from over tho county at great expense. It will be tho best musie ever furnished here during the fair and the association is exercising some judgment.
Objects to tho Water Works Improvement. Dr. John N. Taylor, of the State Board of Health, is very much dissatisged with the innnnor in which tho Water Workri Company aro placing in tho wooden tubing to Bocuro tho water of the Whitlock Springs, llo thinks that tho tubing being laid so shallow tho wntor will become impregnated by the surface drainage. This could be obviated by a sorioB of wolls sunk to depth of ton or twelve feet, properly cemented and cupped. Tho water would thus come from the bottom and all appearance of surfnee drainage would lx out off. Ho thinks tilt) State Board of Health will interpose objections to the present improvement.

ROSS-GREENE,
The Nuptials of Two Popular Young People Celebrated in Grand Style. About two hundred and fifty invitatations wore issued for the wedding of Charles W. Ross, of this city, and Miss Alice 1). Greene, and about one hundred and fifty responded last evening with their presence at tho residence of tho bride's parents, George Greene and wife, two miles south of Waynetown. Tho ceremony occurred at 8:30 o'clock, when tho conversation of the guests was interrupted by the familiar strains of the wedding march played by Eddie Brandkuinp. Joe Ross, of Lafayette, brother of tho groom, and Robert Greene, brother of the bride, first appeared stretching white silk ribbons from the door to each side of the mantel, thus forming a passage way for the bridal party. Next appeared in tho ordor named, Dr. C. A. Brooke, of Monticello, Miss Mollio ltoss, of Lafayette, bridesmaid, Miss Lmcy Scott, of Moline, 111., bridesmaid, the groom, and lastly the bride leaning on her lather's arm. Dr. Brooke used the form pri scrided by the Methodist church which includes tho giving away of the bride by hor father, the exchange of solemn vows, tho ring service and the prayer it the close. Tho entire ceremony was most beautiful and interesting. It occurred beneath a bower of ivy and'daisies while to the rear were the lottors G. R. worked in daisies on (,reen background. The bride was of conrso tho cynosure of all oyes. Her dress was of cream faille, on traine and with medica collar. She wore bride's roses in hor hair and also carried thoni in hor hand. Miss Ross wore a cream brocaded silk and Miss Scott a doep cream silk crepo. Both bride's maids carried and wore Mareclial Neil roses. At the CIOHO of the ceremony tho newly made husband and wife kiBSod and tlion followed kibses and congratulations from tho families and friends. The guests were served to elaborate refreshments in the yard, tho tables being long enough to accommodate fifty persons at a time. It was decorated with evergreen and daisies and a large vase of lilies was placed just in front of the bride. The largo well-kept yard was lighted all over with hundreds of Chinese lanterns making a scone of liouuty and brilliancy not often witnessed It was between eleven and twelve o'clock when tho party began to break and each one loft with boBt wishes for Mr. and Mrs. ltoss, hoping that their future life may be in keeping with the happy beginning of their union.
To-day they will take a short trip to Martinsville where a reception will be given them by Mr. and Mrs Charles Johnson. They will bo in Lafayette on Saturday and on Monday will return to Crawfordsvillo to go to housekeeping on west Piko street.
THE JOUHJJAL, in lehalf ofCrawfordaville society, congratulates Mr. Ross and welcomes his bride to our city as one of us. She is most charming nnd withal a most sensible woman and her influence will bo felt in many circles. She has attended Bchool at Indianapolis, Oxford, Ohio, and two years ago graduated from the Northwestern Conservatory of Music at Evanston. Her wedding day was also her birthday, she being just twonty-one years old yesterday. Mr. Ross is too well known here to need any word of encomium, either as a business man or church worker. MoBt of tho guests wore from Crawfordsville and Waynetown. Those from other places were Dr. C. A. Brooke and wife, of
Monticello, uncle ond aunt of the bride, Mrs. John Brooke, of Frankfort, Miss Abbie Warner, of Rockford, Ills., Miss Clnra Westerberg.of Galosbnrg,
Ills., Alex
Ross and family, of Lafayette, Mrs. Horace Tinglcy, of Chioago, and Will Schonimerhom and wife, of Attica.
