His Nerve With Him,
Absalom Stephenson, who was mentioned in yesterday's JOUHNAL as having torn his clothes off in the jail and ltoaten his jMHjr old horse to death, bobbed up again in the city last evoning. He went to the law office of Henna & Hanna and persuadod Read Hanna to write him out a begging paper by which he could ob tain subscriptions to buy him a now horse. Ho solemnly stated that he had three good horses the day before but that tho people residing near Sperry' bridge Jiad poisoned them nil out of pure spite tttid that the "stink factory man" had hauled them all off before he had time to skip them. It was all ,a lie of tho first water and when he started out with his paper he discovered that they people were onto him and accord ingly skipped the town.

The Retirement of President Tuttle. Tho retirement of Dr. Joseph F. Tuttle as president of Wabash College after thirty-one years active service, removes from the head of that institution tho most central fignre that has been connected with it during its history. What ever reputation Wabash College has attained has been through his energy and his untiring devotion to its interests, and in hie declining years he is entitled to tho rest he has so well earned, and tho fullest measure of veneration for the great work he has accomplished.—Lajayette Courier.,

Lost His License.
A good joke is related upon a voting gentleman who has been married in Crawfcrdsville within the Inst month, lie took out his license and went away from the Clerk's office with his heart bubbling over with joy. About seven i'clock in the evening T. D. Brown heard a furious knocking at his door nd was met upon its opening by a young gentltman who stated in a flurried manner that the prospective groom was awaiting Mr. Brown at the Clerk's office to get another license as he had lost the first one. Mr. Brown hurried on down to the court house and hurriedly wrote out a duplicate for the young gentleman who had to hustle away in order to be present to fulfill his part of the contract. He had probably left the first license in his other clothes, and when it is found both himself and his wife will have a copy by which to rememlwr tho circumstance.
Graduated With Honors.
The commencement exercises of the Indiana]olis high school occurred Wednesday night and Charles N. Young captured the Wabash College scholar ship. Sylvan H. Kalin took tho 820 pr«zo offered by tho Wabash College alumni association for tho senior .making tho highest grade dnring the last yoar. Sheep Baisiug Pays.

This Bpring he had 202 sheep from which ho sheered 1,80!! pounds of wool which he sold at 23 cents, the lot bringing him 8414.09 Since tho first of April ho has sold 31,000 worth of wxl and sheep and now has on hand more sheep than he had at that date and has bought none. As sheep aro comparatively inexjx'nsive it seems that their culture is fraught with great gain.
