THE RECEPTION
At the New Yandees Hall by President Tuttle and Wife. It
whs
the greatest feature of this
coiiiinoneenient iliui in fact suppassed in brilliancy any commencement event in the history of Wabash college. The reception was an unqualified success from beginning to end and too much praise cannot lie tendered to those who had the affair in hand. The beautiful hall was profusely decorated with potted plants and handsome furniture and being brilliantly lighted mado a beautiful picture, especially when crowded with good looking people in full evening dress. President TutUe and wife headed the reception committee and received the many hundreds who called during the evening ill a most happy manner. Ab early as eight o'clock the guests bogan to arrive and from half after eight until half after eleven the spacious rooms were crowded by many throngs engaging in pleasant conversation. The orchestra of the Montani brothers, of Indianapolis, kept the room a riuging with entrancing music and inauy a young lady after casting a furtive glance toward the venerable Doctor's corner would strike the waltz step to pause a moment after with a pained expression and some such exclamation as "ThiB would bo simply a dove of a place to dance!" The number of strangers present was unusually large and those not present can realize just how many commencement visitors were in the city. The scene in the dining rooms was busy one, colored waiters were hustling to and fro, under the direction of the ladies, serving delicious ices and cakes. The guests were accommodated with the greatest celerity when the number of those calling tor refreshments is considered, every person entering the dining room was presented weth a red ribbon to signify that he had been served with the refreshments and a lookout committee was walking through the rooms outside inviting all persons not wearing these tokens to the dining room. The only regret of the evening was in the fact, that the reception could not take j,lace in the Yandes Hall next year as the books will then lje in and the vacant room occupied. It is not probable, howover, that the next season will go by without a reception somewhere. Last night's was too great a success to bo
Oraig-Brown.
The home of Elias Brown, on east Main street was last evening the scene of a brilliant marriage ceremony, Miss Anna lirownand Howard T.Craig being united for life. At 8 o'clock the guests began to arrive and by 8:30, the timo of tho ceremony, one hundred were present in the beautifully decorated rooms. It was a gay assmblage, all present being intimate friends of the contracting parties. At the appointed hour the bride attended by her sister Miss Minnie and the groom attended by his brother Will entered and took their stand before Rev. G. W. Switzer, of the M. K. church, performed the marringe ceremony according to the lieautiful ritual of tho Methodist church. The bride was attired in Henrietta uteol trimmed with steel velvet and looked charmingly. Tho groom was attired in tho customary black. After the ceremony hearty congratulations wero offered and elegant refreshments were served the guests. The presents were both numerous nnd highly valuable, both for the beauty and usefulness. Mr. and Mrs. Craig are two of, Crawfordsvillo's best known young
people
both having
ljeen raised in this city, The groom is connected with tho government mail service and is most promising young man while tho bride haB always stood high in tho community for her many estimable traits. After the departure of tho guests last ovenimg the happy couple retired to their now homo at 702 Binford street where they go to house
keeping immediately.
