PENSIONING FIREMEN.

An Important Act Passed by the Last Legislature on this Subjoot. Tho legislature last winter enacted a law erecting a Fireman's Pension Fund for tho pensioning of disabled firenion, and the widow, and dependent children, mothers and fathers of deceased firemen, to create a Board of Trustees of Buch fund, to authorize the retirement of disabled members, and of all members after service of twonty-five years, and pensioning of such members. Tho provisions of tho act only apply to such cities that have paid departments. Following aro the cities that come under the requirements of tho act: Terro Haute, Brazil, Vincennes, Logansport, Lafayotto, New Albany, Eokoino, Indianapolis, Frankfort, Peru, Ft. Wayne, .Toffersonville, Crawfordsville, Rushvillo, Richmond, Muncie, South Bond, Evansville, Bloomington and Rising Sun. These cities have boen returned to Auditor Henderson by the several county nudiitore as having paid fire departments, and as thus being subject to the new law. Tho State Board of Underwriters, however, claim that Bruzil, Frankfort,

R:.o!ivillo, Bloomington nnd Rising Sun have no paid department and are therefore entitled to none of the lienofits of tho law. Under tho law the insurance companies aro assessed ono per cent, upon tho gross business in the several counties in which there are paid departments, thoso amounts to be paid to tho county auditors, to constitute pension funds for disablod firemen and tho families of those killed in service. It will bo observed that Crawfordsville is in the list entitled to benefits under tho law.
