Ritter, ex-teller of the First national bank and under indictment by the federal grand jury for cnibc/.zliinj SSO.OCJO, wns arraigned for trial Monday before Judge Woods. His attorneys with drew the plea of "not guilty" entered at the preliminary hearing a few months ago and pleaded guilty. Sentence was suspended by the court until next October. It understood that Hitter will settle with the bank and in this manner be able ui escape severe punishment. Public sympathy has been uroused in his be half by the fact that it is generally supposed that liitter's defalcation was the result of another's strategic engi neering.
Attorney Kheinhohl on Trial. Indianapolis, lnd.. May 27.—Tho trial of Attorney Rheinhold on charge of conspiracy to commit burglary begun in the criminal court Mon day. A jury was secured at noon, and testimony was Introduced showing that the defendant had identified one of the Horton gang as a friend, and in that way had defrauded a man out of a watch. Convicts Patterson, Thorn and Reynolds were brought down from the northern prison and will testify foi the state. Horton, the leader of the gang, is in jail and will also testify against Rheinhold. The state has employed counsel to assist the prosecutor.

Indianapolis, lnd., May 27.—The board of school commissioners has do cided to have the new enumeration oi school children taken by the tcacli ers, and for that purpose the schools will be dismissed Wednes day, Thursday and Friday of this woek. The 815 able-bodied teachers of the city will be assigned to their districts this afternoon. A chief, or supervisor, will be appointed to direct the work in each ward of the city, and II. C. Uendrickson, building- and supply agent, will have charge of the whole.

Jewett is in splendid form and is training for tho national athletic tournnment to be held June 15 in New York city. He won five events Saturday in the field contests at Ypsilanti, Mich.
Indiana Flooded with Counterfeit Coin. Indianapoi.is, lnd., May 27. -The state is being flooded with counterfeit' silver coin of all denominations. From all directions reports of it are being sent in to Maj. Carter, United States treasury agent. He. does not think it the work of any organized gang of counterfeiters, because it Is of all grades of workmanship and evidently made by many different persons.
