TALKING OF VIOLENCE.
Smypathizera Of The Midland Railroad Threaten to Dynamite Jolm S. Brown. The situation on the Midland railroad is unohnnged at Wnveland and Ladoga, tiie rcrnd'B property still remaining in the hands of strikers. There are other movements on foot, however, which are not of BO quiet a character and which relied 110 credit upon. eomo unknown parties, who, if disoovercd, would lie forced to fiwallow ia very disagreeable dose of the law. It has been mentioned in TUB JOUITNAL previously that tho Midland company has lieen endeavoring to got out an injunction on tho strikers holding the road a trains and how it was deferred by not being able to furnish bondsmen residing in the cocnty whose resources were known to tho court. Jol
S. Brown wns approached en tho subject, and was considering tho matter, when the strikers and their friends became ocgniznant of tho fact. Tho measures resorted to in order to prevent Mr. Brown from signing tho bond roiieet anything but credit on tho strikers, if indeed, they as a body endorse tho action taken. Whon Mr. Brown returned home the other evening I10 found lying upon (his front.door stop a board and upon rgising.it discovered a letter addressed to ".Tohn S. Brown, Crawfordsville, Intl." Upon opening the envelop Mr. Brown took out and read tho following letter:
John 8. Brown—Dear Sir—Wo ltnv learned that you hav lent your name to tho midlanu railroad for tho purpos of lxHtiug a lot of poo re men out of hard earned money. If you think that those strikers has no friends in this town you aro much mistaken for somo dont liv far from you and they aro going to stand by NVaveland and if you lend your name to that paper we will dinnmite your houso if it taks ten years to quit caver, and as for onderson and Crane they shal share the same fait, for by the living God we will be revenged.
Signed, Striker.
The letter while incendinary in character had anything but the desired effect upon Mr.Brown and inclined him rather to the other side. Messrs. Anderton and Crane are not much alarmed, but will push the injunction suit,. This suit will not come up for somo days as tho Crawfortls are busy in law suits at Chicago and Covington. As soon as they are through with thoBC, however, the case will come up bofore Judge Snyder.
Heavy Losers.
Myers Brothers, of Dayton, O., who lost tho $5,000 stallion, Kenelm, at Insley's stable last Tuesday, were tho owners of the 840,000 Alabaster, which died about two weeks ago in Illinois. Mr. Hutchinson states that the boree liad no oats to oat at all after returning from Linden and is unable to account exactly for the attack of tho colic. The horse was.insured for 81,500, and Mr. Hutchinson will have another one as soon as possible to take his place.
"Quitttenon" Is Good.
The Wabash College annual, just .issued, is a handsome volume, called, in 'gilt letters on the cover, "The Qniatonon, '92." Pronounce "qui" as "we," and you have it. Tho book contains portraits of the faculty, tho glee club and. other personages and of tho uow
Yandos Library Hall, as well as interesting rooding." Herbert Thompson was editor-in-chief and E. H. Evnns is business manager.—Indianapolis Nctcx.
Private Opinion Made Public. Judge Chumasero: "What aro all the newspapers making such a fuss abont that creamery, I wonder. Now I think it is a positive detriment to the community. In the first place it has made butter so high that it is almost out of sight, and besides that it is noxt to impossible now to get good, tender steak because the farmers will only sell to the butcher the lenn, worn out cows."
Besolntions.
WHEREAS, it has pleased tho Giver of all things to remove from our midst our fellow-citizen, William F. lihoads, therefore
Resolved, that in his doath wo lose one of our most esteemed, influential worthy and onorgetic business men tho community a faithful and courteous citizon tho church one of her most devoted, earnest and untiring advocates and workers his family a husband and companion in tho strictest sense of tho term.
And we, tho business men of Waveland, extend to tho beroavod family our full sympathy in thiB snd hour of bereavoment, and can only say, look to Him who hath said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thoe." He alono can heal our sorrows and bind up tho broken heart. That a copy of these resolutions 1m filed with tho B. M.
