The contemptible (lower thief is again abroad in the land. Last night a gang of them visited the boarding house of Mrs. Lewis on east Market street and stole a large number of line potted plants. The rascals used a couple of liund wagons to carry the phmts away in. They were traced by the wagon 1 racks east on Market to Morgan and thence south to Main street. There t,hi.'. tracks were lost. Mrs. Lewis has .'placed the matter in the hands of the police :iinI it is to be hoped that the thieves will be brought to a speedy justice.

BiBhop Joyce's Birthplace. Courier: About two miles
north of Battle Ground stands the little log hut in which Bishop 1. W. Joyce was born and reared. It is about twenty rods from the Monon railroad track, and is in the center of a green field of wheat. It is an interesting spot, made so because Bishop Joyce was born there. When a little boy in homespun trousers his feet trod over every root of ground about the hut. To-day they support the form of a groat man. a man whoso position is sacred, dignified, and one of the most responsible and honored that man can attain. It is for a lire-time, anil 110 man ever tilled it who was moro worthy or the high honor. There is but one room in the hut, and ir it could, what interesting reniiniscesces or the boyhood of Bishop Joyce it would rolatu.
