Tba Joint Oouuiiittee Unanimously Agres Upon a Rjporc—All OfHcets Put On Salaries.

The joint couiiuitteo on fe^n aud salaries have concurred in tho report of tho sub-committee appointed to draft a foe aud salary bill. After llxuig the salaries of the Governor aud State officers, the bill divides tho several counties of the State into nine classes according to their population. Montgomery is in the lllth class, liaviug a population of between '.15,000 uud 30,000. Clerks, Auditor, Treasure! and SheritVs in this class receive a salary of j-2,000 aud $50 for each additional 1,UlH) over '.15,000. As this county has population of l!.^,021 it will make the salaries of these officers $'2,150. Recorders in this class receives a salary ot £1,750 and #50 for each 1,000 over '25,OIH), making the salary in this county SI,900. Tho County School Superintendent receives £3 per day for the time actually employed. Tho Roard of County Commissioners shall lix the uumber and compensation of the deputies in the Auditors', Treasurer's and Recorders' offices and shall not exceed from 61.50 to $3.50 a day for the timo actually employed. The Judges of the circuit courts shall lix tho number and compensations of tho deputies in the Clerks' and SheritlV offices aud shall not exceed from 82 to St per day for the ti mo actually employed. These sums are the full compensations the officer are to receive except that the Shoritl' receives -10 cents per day for boarding prisoners and 10 cents mile for removing persons to asylums and prisons, uud 5 cents a mile for each additional person if taken nt the sumo. The details of the bill are vuite long but tho above outline will serve to show how the bill will effet Montgomery county, As it now stands if the bill becomes a law it will take ell'oot when this sessions laws are iublisbed and the Governor has issued his proclamation.

No. 2, who was soldier, died also. She applied for and re eeived a pension on account of his death She afterwards re-marr ed and was fortunate enough to secure a soldier as her third husband. No. 3 also died when she applied and received a pension on account of his death. She again married and again secured a sol dier. No. ulso died and rho is now making application for a pension on account of his death. Of course the pen moil stops at the time of re-marriage, and she has ouly received one at time.

Little Anna, the live-year-old dniigh ter of Thomas aud Anna M.iber, liviue ou tho corner of Noith and Washington streets, met with a serious and painful accident last evening about o'clock During tho absence of her parents the child in playiug with matches aud paper set lire to her apron and dress. Running out of tho house to a neighbor a few foet awuy, she was saved from death by the tiro being extinguishedHer clothes were burned oil" aud her body fearfully scorched, and her hair also being burned oil". Tho physicians state however that tho burns uro not nosoBsarrily dangerous.

Grandfather Krugg is again up and dressed feeling as sprightly as he has for many mouths. Ho experienced a sudden revival last night and is all right again to-day although somewhat flighty. To all callers ho will begin by expatiating on tho goodness of God and from this discussion by an eas}' transaction he comes to a consideration of Washington whom ho believes to be the last descendant of God in a diroct line although Linooln is also conueoted with the family. His sudden recovery is most remarloiblo as his demise was fully expected all day luosJny and Wednesday.

Birth Day Surprise.

T. H. Wiutou was sixty-eight years old yestorduy niul a nuuilior of his friends and neighbors surprised him by coming in at supper time to extend congratulation and present several useful presents. After partaking of a nioo supper prepared by his daughter, Mrt Gilliland, the guests left.

Squire, travelling freigui agent of the Big Four, was in the city to-day. —Will Brewor, of LaMour, North Dakota, has arrived in the oity. Ho will probably locate here.

A Beautiful Death-

Well may death bo oaliod beautiful when it comes as it did to Clari Gouuard Hills shortly after S o'clock this tuoruiug. Takon suddenly sick last Sunday of a disease that from tho vory tirst baillod tho physician's skill, she daily grew worse and last night all hope was lost. About two hours boforo tho end her failing strength rallied aud sho talked iu ft clear strong voice. Sho spoke a last good bye to each mom ber of the family, left loving messages for all absent friends and all hor old school mates, naming each one. Sho arranged moat of tbo details of her funeral and her lust request was that she bo buried in hor wedding dress. She idso desired "Some Sweet Day," to be sung at her funeral. Rov. E. 1. Thomson, who took her into Center church when sho was fourteen years old, wus present to comfort her last hours. Her faith in an immortality was lirui and her only regrets were at leaving hor little baby.

Clam Couuard Hills was bom in this oity Sept. 17, ISO'.), aud was married Oct, 3, 1880, to Homer C. Hills, aud to them one child was born, Marg.rette, nged sevou months. Henry W. Couuard aud wife are her parents, and thoro are two brothers, Harry and Hiram, and ouo sister, Mrs. Jumes Breaks. The funeral will oocur on Sunday.

Tho refreshments served were both elegant aud delicious and the entertainment was ouo of the events of the Wiutor season.
