The Washington Journal of iov. 10, IS! 10, has the following: The operatic burlesque of Faust, as presented last night at the Opera House, was very pleasant performance and free from any of the objectionable fe itures that are of ton introduced into plays of that kind. The company is largo, having about 30 members, of whom 20 are attractive youug women, very much under the ago of the traditional ballet or chorus girl. There are very good voices in the ojmpany, but more pretty faces. Miss May Duryea, who takes the part of Marguorite, and Miss Victoria Castellan who appears as Martha, have voices that have already done credit to their possessors in grand opera. Faust, Siebel, Alephistopheles, alentine and lirandur, the other principal roles, were gracefully aud ably sustained respectively by Miss Nellie ^lackey, li. 11. •Seveer, Chas.s Osborne, MisB Maude Wilmotaud Happy Dick Turner.
Private Opimou Made Public.1?® O. M. If could not induce them to subscribe .1 would subscribe for them. There is no agent more potent to intluence an honest man's vote as the paper whijh is a regular visitoi at his home, lie reads it regularly year iu aud year out, during tho heat of a political campaign aud when political queotions are unagitated. its inllueuiu is gradual but uone the less powerful. In my opiuion money spout iu incre:ismg tho circulation of the party organ, not just during tho campaign, but all tho time, will give iuHuitely larger returns than if spout in any other way."
