From it we glean that on Ootober 31, tho prison oontained 735 conviots of whom 21 ar» rom Montgomery county. The report contains muoh valuable and interesting information and shows the institution to be well managed.
Amusements.
Charles A. Gardner performed bo fore a crowded house at Music Hall Christmas eve, extra chuirs were put in and standing room sold. The show was good of its kind but had its weak points, 'Dan MoGinty's Troubles"' were pictured to a matin house of about 50 yesterday and a very good houso i*i the evening. The show is a chestnut and so is evorybody and thing connooted with it.
TrampB Troublesome.
The city has beenoverruu with tramp? in the last few days. Four were sentenced to 10 days imprisonment in tho ail last Monday, and a gang which took possession of a Monon freight train were jailed Wednesday night. Four were run in yesterday for the burglary of a hardware store at Bedford, the stolen knives and razors being found in their possession.
A Gone Piom the Old Gin House Recently Mat Doherty was at Franklin, Tenn., and left an order for a cane to be made from the rafters of the old Carter cotton gin house, which stood in the field to the east of the pike on the Front- lin battlefield. The gin house has been replaced by an educational in stitution whioh is known as the Battle Ground College and its timbers artbeing manufactured into walking sticks by a native Tennesseean who hoe caught the Yankee spirit of enterprise. Yesterday the cane was received by Mr. Doherty, accompanied by the following letter:
FBANKUN, Tenn., Dec. 22,1890. Mat Doherty, Orawfordsville, lnd, Enolosed please find one walking cane made from one of the rafters of the old Carter gin house around whioh fell so many brave and tried men on both sides in that memorable contest at this place on November 30, 18G4, 26 years and ten days before it was worked by my hands in the manufacturing of thik atiok. S-im C. Soott und U. M. Hoott yesterday jointly oelebrated their birthdays at the residence of U. M. Scott on College street. Sam was 60 years old and U. M. was 56 on that day. The "twins' had planned to entertain eaoh other and their families at a joint dinner, eaoh furnishing their part. The "woods" are full of Scotts, so to speak, and the wives of tho two old men took it upon them selves to make a family reunion of the occasion. To that end invitations were sent out and the result was that thirtytwo people sat down to dinner at U. M, Scott's yesterday, and the "twins" were surprised. A most exoellent dinner was prepared and with the exception of G. W. Soott, of Peoria, and Mrs. Julia Newliall, of Lafayette, it was a complete family reunion. Those present wore S, C. Soott, wife and Miss Fannie, A. M. Hills and wife and Miss Mamie and Emma Hills, John H. Scott and wife and Misses Minnie, Nettie, Dot and Master Frank, W. H. Soott, wife and two sons, C. M. Soott, wife and daughter, Mrs. Ella Bell and son, Terre Haute Prm Reynolds and wife, U. P. Collins, Bainbridge, Jesse T. Collins wife and Bon,
Douglass oouuty,. Ills., U. M. Soot, wifo and two HOUH and Mrs. Mitchell. Eaoh guest was presented with a handsome Christmus oard and the twins were each recipients of handsome presents. The occasion as a pleasant on to all and will long be remembered by eaoh one present.

WONDERFUL DISCOVERY.
REVOLUTION PROMISED IN MEDIUM SCIENCE.
Dr- Kooh and HiB Lymph Discounted—BrA, P-Henry the Inventor.
Dr. A. F. Henry, of Win gate, exCoroner of this oounty, claims to have outdone the great German doctor,Koob, in a cure for consumption. Tho Doctor oalled at THB JODHAI, oflloe yesterday with his invention, for whioh a patent has been applied, and demonstrated its workings. It oonsists of a double ontisoptio and germicine inhaler, whereby it is said a patient may apply any of the antiseptics or germicido to diseased organs of the nose, throat or lungs at any temperature desired. "The contrivance although so simple, remarked the Dojtor, is the greatest discovery of the ago." "With this I can disinfeot the lungs of any person suffering with pulmonary consumption and render them as completely septic a) the stump of an amputatod limb may be made by any surgeon." "In what stage may tho diHOisc bo attacked successfully, Doctori" "Well, it won't raise the dead .neither will it rebuild one cell of lung tissue that has been destroyed. Whatover amount of lung tissue has been destroyed, the patient will be that muoh short, but it will destroy the germ. If there is enough vitality left in tho system coitrization will go on. The protew do63 not interfere in tho least with the most approve I treatment, but is simply a germ destroyer." "How does it attaok the germ?" S "Why, the machine yousoo is a simple inhaler, and by inhaling tli9 germioide or antiseptic the powei of tho maoliiiid enables the medicine to penetrate to tho innermost oavities of the nasal organs, lungs or throat. Of course toxic sobstahoes or noxious gases would not be used, and tho Bize of tho dose given and its strength and dilution are plaoed completely under tho control of the physioian or nurse." "In what condition must the potion* 1)0 to receive the treatment?" "In any condition whatever.. Ho may inhale when awoke or asleep, conectous orunoonsoious, ritional or delirious.
The treatment may moreover bo taken at any temperature up to 200 agrees Fahrenheit." (The Doctor hero iulialod his medicine boiling hot with no dis oomforture whatover. "Must great oare bo taken in its administraton as is in the case with the lymph of Dr. Koch?" "Nat at all. The wayfaring man though a fool need not err. The pat lent may take treatment while going about tho ordinary duties of a work a day life—the banker at his desk, tho farmer at his plow or the oowboy in the saddle." "Has the treatment ever been tested? "Yes sir, in a few cases of consumption and the results have been all I ever expected or claimcd." "Does the size of the maohine huvo anything to do with its power?" "Yes, indeed, for by increasing ita size aud capacity sufficiently I can disinfeot past houses, hospitals, asylums or ships at sea more easily and much better than by any other known method.
Doos it cure merely diseases of tho throat and lungs?" "No, I olaim that it is a great improvement in the treatment of dipthoria, scarlatina and in fact all contagious diseases whose infection depends upon •i germ." "Is tho treatment as gieat mystory as Koch's lymph?" "It is not wrapped up iu aay mystery whatever, but may bo explained to the satisfaction of any physioian in twenty minutes, So simple indeed is it that my daughter, Miss Dora, who has no knowledge of medicine what ever can demonstrate its use to any one inclined to investigate. The instrument is now in her possession at her home in this city."
