Some vomen imagine that nothing will stand the peculiar breaking strain of their forms on corset "bones.^

They don't know Kabo, which neither breaks or kinks.

If Kabo breaks or kinks in a year, go back to the store at which you bought your corset and get your money again, every cent of it. "if the corset doesn't suit you, after wearing a week or two or three, go back for your money.

There's a primer on Cor: sets for you at the store.

A STRANGE SCENE.

York

•1'lines S'.rutliers, of the •StocK -Exchange, was not a polite man. It a day when there was near being a panic on the floor of the Exchange because the I!ank of England had boon drained of gold. Stocks took a sudden tlop from 1 to S per cent., according to the kind. Memivrsof the Exchange began to lose th-ir margins at a rate that made their hair start to turn gray. They rushed frantically hither and thither to get loans. But the banks ami trust- companies had become timid, and not only refused in most cases to grant loans but beuan to demand the money they had on call. Kates ran up so high that they reached a point (rcpial to 90 per cent, a year. Pandemonium reigned in the pit of wolves and bears. Men cursed and tore their, hair as they saw gaunt ruin facing tlii-in'. At this moment James Strut hers ciimo in. It was just tea minutes to noon.

Strutters brushed against one of his friends somewhat heavily. The friend was in etato bordering on frenzy about his stocks at the moment. "1 wish you wouldn't do that Jimmy," ho said. But Jimmy did not heed. Ho brushed against another friend even more rudely than against the first. Not only that, but he fell forward upon his face in the midst of the veiling, roaring brokers. When they turned him over and lifted him up, Strmhers was dead. He had been in eon Fiderate enough to interrupt tho Stock Exchange in the busiest part of the dny.

Exactly at 13 o'clock the president of the exchange gave some thundering raps with liis gavol and announced that on« of their members had been stricken with death on the floor, and that there would be a recess of half an hour. Sumo of tin brokers blessed their stars for the breath ing spell, and hust'.ed oft to rake up loans that, would save them froui ruin. At the end of exactly half an hour the president announced that the exchangi. was open again. Tho roaring and liowW ing began anew, louder than before Storks rallied again in tho courso of tin afternoon. For a dead man. Struthers had been moved out of tin way with its little muss.and waiting as possible. Bnt for all that it was announced next da that, the business of tho Consolidated Exchange had been .serioosly interrupted by the break in tho Stock Exchange programme.

A certain oil company, with a capital of $5,000,000. is announced as entering the field to compete with the Standard company, with a capital ot 500 millions more or less. It is possible there is a largo njnount of buncombo in this alleged competition. It is possible that tho Standaid Oil company is going to compete with itself lo this new deal. Such competing combinations are the latest thing out in shrewd business enterprises. They keep outsiders off the field.

If Paul Alexander Johnstone, tho mind rentier, who is to succeed Bishop, must go off into convulsions, fall into cataleptic lit, and nearly die every time be drives blindfold through tho streets and find? a name in a hotel register, what are his extraordinary jiowers worth? The remarkable progress made in perfecting electrical methods is nowhere better illustrated than in the ca.se of the submarine cable. In 1858 tho first ocean telegraph message was sent between Europe and America. At that time a message oi thirty-one words was transmitted in thirty-five minutes, and this was thought to be marvelous speed. Now tOu words per minute are sent.

A Urge audience assisted oil the occasion and showed its appreciation by frequent and heatIt applause. The play Is essentialsombre in tone and Is hardly relieved at all by any coVnedv.
