In 10 or 15 bodies strychnine was found, Has root Dr. Peters once or twice, who brought to him on May 2-i, 1S90, heart, glass analyzed tho spleen aud liver for strychuiue and found it iu both from liver about 1-20 of a grain aud from spleen about 1-21 of a grain were extracted cut up parts line and treated with sulphurio acid filtered and treuted with caustic potash liltered ngaiu aud evaporated to diyness treated residue with alcohol to tako up strychnia evaporated to dryness and treated with water then treated with chloroform and evaporated then treated with nott'o acid aud again btill further purified the tinal residue was treated with suiphurio acid to destroy foreign substances the liquid was again tiltered, washed with pure water to dissolve out strychuiue, dried and again purified finally a crystaline mass was obtained wLich was fauud to be strychnine The substance obtained was tasted it was very bitter it was highly crepstatlene no color followed application of strong sulphurio aoid bichromate of pot isu gave a play of colors blue, purple, (or if only a small quantity is present, violet,) then tho purple hanged to olet—tiien red and yellow, l'erox de of lead gaue a similar display ol colors. Oxalate of cerium gave same dii-plaj also used microscopical test which is very characteristic gave somo ol the extract to a frog which soon died iu convulsions. A 1 ohemicals used were pure. At the same time carried on a parallel test with pure water aud used same chemical found nothing. This proves that the strychnine fouud came from tho body aud not from the chemicals. No person was ever present during the exr ^nations. Heart was uot aualyzi aud is still iu witness' possession some of tho stryonnino was neetssarily wasted during they process of analysis.

Limbs cun-ot be moved from a time varying from 1'2 hours to six months length ol time that rigidity remaius depends on manner of death there is usually difficulty iu straightening tho the fingers after death waste iu analysis for utryehniue is very slight it is usual to fiud strychuiue in brain after poisoning but its presence is not neces•iary to prove that strychnine was taken if thero was no issago of urine or movement of bowels, strychnine taken on Sanday or Tuesday might be :ouud after Wednesday fatal doso -f itrychnine depends on tho couditiou of ihe patient there is no way of telling whether strychnine fouud iu a body was introduced bofore or after death.

It will tako four bailifis to escort the jury to their voting places to-morrow. Charley Davis will see to those voting in the oity.

Juryman Conner appeared this morning in bl ick spectaoles to protect his eyes from the glare of light whioh comes in from the south windows.

Tbo jury attended the son ices at the A. M. E. church last night, and were touchingly referred to in the pruvers of Zack Williams. They rode around the oity in the afternoon. J^Prof. Haines is a slightlv built man with mustuobe and whiskers of a fiery red. He is 40 years years old but does look it. Ha gave his testimony in a modest manner bnt he improssed everyone as being thoroughly posted in his line.

The State will examine Dr. Haines, of Rush Medical College, and Dr. O'Ferrell, of Lafayette, and then hand the case over to the defense, letting the rest of their witnesses go, as what they swore to would be a mere rehash of what is already before the jury.
