MARION. Ind., Oct. 13. Saturday morning the shorlll of I'lymouth, lnd., arrested ,). F. Williams on a charge of fraud. Williams came here from Plymouth last Wednesday, and represented himself as the agent of the Chicago Loan A Investment Company. Ths officer who made the arrest states that Williams was discharged by tho above company a year ago, but that ho had since been doing business In their name, pocketing the proceeds, and that in this way he has swindled the people of Indiana out of 53,000. The ofilcer was accompanied by the proprietor of the Hoss House at Plymouth, who states hat Williams left him owing a board bill of SOS. The sberif! also stated that his prisoner Is guilty of bigamy, having not less than three wives.

HUNTINH rox, Ind., Oct. in. —Engine No. fill on tin" Chicago .t IJrie road, KJward Murphy, engineer, and George Klrby, fireman, was ordered Saturday night to Wi'st Point, west of this city, to bring in a freight train tho engine Of which "as disabled. When 1B a long cut two miles west of this city tho engine explodod, blowing out all the front end, (earing out the bottom and twisting machinery generally. Notwithstanding the explosion the engine kept the rails and ran 700 feet before stopping. The firemen and engineer jumped tho engine while it was in motion. The engineer had his leg broken and was badly scalded, while the fireman was badlv cut about his face and bead and is .scalded. His recovury doubtful.

Dillon and O'Brien had of their own volition abandoned their defense and loft tho country. The courts, ho said, had decided that under circumstances snch as had arisen in tho prostnt caso, it was not necoseary to atop proceedings In a trial.

At 1:30 Satur
day afternoon a terriblo explosion oo ourred in the engine-room ol P. Hayden's rolllnp-mill at Spring and Water Stroots. The roof collapsed immediately a/torward, and three men were caug-ht in the wreck. Tho work of rescue began Immediately. John McXerney was taken out with most of his bones broken, and he lived, but few minutes. S. D. Mllligan was found still alive, lyinff in tho wreck of the furnace terribly crushod and burned. Fire was all about him, and ho died later in horrible agony, llafe Freeman, tho third victim, was badly, but it is not thought fatally, scalded.
