There are many white soaps, each represented to be "just as good as the Ivory." They are not, but like all counterfeits, they lack Ihe peculiar and remarkable qualities of the genuine. Ask for Ivory Soap and insist upon having it. 'Tis sold everywhere.

SOME BAILROAD FIGURES.
If the mU'iHtate commerce iimnlBsioi. did no other good tiling the rtiilr«ad statistics it collects annually would stand to ita credit. Tho field of opera tionl Included in Its year's lalxirs cmbrao.H 000 rendu nnd 100,803 mllea of roilwuy.
We find from the figuree that on the average every mile of ruilrotul In tho United Stated netted last yenr clenr of till oxponnea $501, which shows that It was a year of jiroKperlty for railwnju. Moreover, avermjo dividondii havu twen iwiid to theam.mnt of filW a mile. Atthe wuno time a Hiirplus of $120 to tho iiiilo of line 1B still left for future operations. Tho total railway property In tho rountry 1h rejirewnkil by Btocks anl lx/nds to tho amount of f7,7(5tl,743.077. sun) showing tho enonnmiB projxirtions tho rallroiul intcrestH of the country havo reached. Some curious ilguni.s njipenr In tho mattor of the riilatlvo amounts of Ciinilngri from fwlght and iassenger traffic. In iisfl) passenger earnings Increased considerably over «what they were in 1888, but freight earnings diminished in almost tho namo ratio.
For every hundred miles of line in tlio Union 450 men are employed, whoreas in Kngland for every hundred iniloe of lino tho number of employes Is far greater. This sliows one of two things. Either Americans are more capable ami CJUI do more than tlio averago old country employe, or else tlio railroads there aro bettor kept up than thoy aro in America, and employes aro not worked eo many hours, and tho railroads hero are Insufficiently manned. One thing is certain—labor there doee not cost as much as hero. Tho total number of railway employes in tlio Union Is 704,748. Supposing each man's labor supports four individuals, including hlmsolf, wo havo an army of nearly G.000,000 pooplo diroctly maintained by tho railroads.
There aro some figures not pleasant to road. During 1880 1072 railway employes were killed in tho United 8t»tos and 20,028 wero injured. That is to say, 1 employe wit of every 807 was killed during 1880, and 1 otit of every 80 was injured. This is frightful to contemplate. It looks like recklessness somewhere that is nothing leas than criminal. The ratio of railway employes killed and injured in Great Britain falls much below those figures.
