Since the beginning of her fast Mrs. Wuehter has been orilieally ill and she has sutTorod intense pain. Pp to nine years ago Mrs. Wuchtor, who is :)'.i years of age, was in good health. About that tlino she began to fail, the tirst evidences of declining health being a spasmodic cough. Eighteen months ago tho cough became very severe, and her voice sank at times to a whisper. Ten months ago swallowing becamo difficult, and in a short time she was unable to get any thing down her throat except liquids. ller condition grow worso until she was ablo to partako of liquid food only at raro Intervals, and then not more than a spoonful at a time.
Since Good Friday she has not taken a drop of water, although she complains of an intense thirst. Tho only way In which her thirst can ho allayed is by placing one of her hands in a basin of wator, where it is kept for about half an hour so that tho pores may absorb moisture. Itisovidont that tho woman is sutTering fromcancorof tho pharynx, which has grown steadily until tho throat is almost completely closed. Mrs. Wulchter's sight has almost failed, part of her body Is paralyzed, and she has not been ablo to speak a word for weeks. She Is entirely pulseless, though tho heart is nearly normal. Sho sloops vory little, never longer than fiftoon minutes at a time. Tho physicians who have seen her can not account for tho woman's remarkable tenacity of ilfo, except that she has a wonderful "constitution."
