There's a corset that isn't a corset, a waist with straps for the shoulders and rows of buttons to button on skirts and stocking supporters and so forth—the Ball Waist —and that's about the whole of it. No you can put In the washtub—no metal in it or on it.
It is worth your seeing, if for nothing but how to sew on buttons'to button easy and never come off. and how to make buttonholes wear forever.
Women differ in their ways of thinking and dressing as well as in other ways. 1 his waist is for women whose minds are made up that they won't wear corsets.
There's much to be said on both sides but did you ever hear of a woman who hadn't made up her mind in sonic way? and is there any possible use in trying to get her to change it She will and she will or she won't and she won't.
You can get the Rail Waist and wear it a week or two or three and, if you don't want it, take it back to the store and get

The Methodist Ohurcli Reopened Yesterday With Interesting Services. Tho Methodist church was packed yesterday morning and evening itul tho new pipe organ made its debut iu publie worship uuder auspicious circumstances. llev. G. W. Swiizer occupied the pulpit and delivered two interesting sermons. Iu the morniug ho brought out the lesson derived from the storv of Mary who b**oke the alabastor box" of oil "for the Saviour's annoiutnient amid tho complaints of the sordid
Judas. The lesson teaches that no sacnlico can be too costly for Christ, :i:-d whatever is dona by willing hearts is generously received. Judas typities the modern sootier who denounces the embellishment of churches and complains that the poor are thus barred out. It is but the shallow pretext oi diseased minds to find fault with persons and things hotter than themselves and theirs. Tho music was exceptionally lino and Louis l'alk's accompaniment to some of the old familiar hymns rendered them almost startling in their beau ty. After tho service a collection was taken for the paving oil' of the organ debt and it netted over SOCK). This loaves about $500 still remaining unpaid. In the evening tho disoourso treated of Christ's care of bis children, and demonstrated that whatever was dono by them for his glory would bo amply rewarded in the great hereafter as well as by the satisfaction of a duty well performed iu this life. Tho music was again splendid and Miss Hammond again favored tho audionco with one of her "beautiful solos. Everyone who has board tho now instrument is loud in its praises and the Ladies' Aid Society can not bo too highly eulogized for the successful termination of their great labor.
Opening of Court.
Tho circuit court began its sessions this morning, and for several days no news of importance will come out, as tho time will bo occupied with tho call of tho docket and usual preliminaries Tho Commissioners court also began its labors and will transact some important business before its adjournment. A number of interesting casos will bo tried in tho circuit court, among others tho Pettit case, Folick chicken stealing caso, tho CJISO of tho Now Kicbmond outlaw, Charles Howe, tffteen divorce cases, anil several others.

CORIUNA'S WEDDING.
When Jabez Chow came courtin' Corlsnna Dow'lv, (rranther 1 Yvks was jOfit as mad as hops. You see, Coriminii elie had kept house for graiulther quite a sjiell. She wasn't overly young, and ho didn't want to spare her, she made such nice griddle cakes. lie was very fond of griddle cakes. He hadn't teeth to eat nothing hard, and she made 'em for him for breakfast, dinner and supper. Sometimes slie made 'em plain, sometimes sweet. Sometimes slie rolled jell up into 'em. Sometimes sho put hash into 'can. They wits a great variety, and tlicy was always good. So when Jrtlvz Chmv purposed, and Corinnua accepted him. grantber said "No," said how he'd cuss her if sho disobvyed him.
N'W. C'rianna c?uld have done what she was a minter for all Granthor Pecks for, as 1 said, she was risen thirty. But she was a pious gal, and she felt its If her KRinther's cuss would sort of blight her. so she told Jabez she couldn't marry him nohow until granthor either died or giv' in, only she wasn't able to help horelf from nuvtin' him after grantber had gone to bed—just where the punkin patch jined outer the bluelierry inedder, anil the old i»pler grew. Well, some mean sneak or other wont and told grauther about it, and he got up out of his lxd and fullered her ono night, and found 'otu kissin' each other. lie wits a real bad tempered old gentleman, Grauther Peeks was, ami when he seen that he just up and cussed her any way and drove her homo with his stick like sho was a pig, after hitting
Jabez Chow over tho head with it. Jabez didn't durst hit back on account of his age, and granther knew- he wouldn't. Home ho drove Oiriainia, and when be got her to hum there wns the old boy to pay, you may bo sure. Corianna was sobbing its of her heart would break. "You cussed me, grantber," sho ko.pt a-sayin' "and now it don't make no matter what I do. Sooin' I'm cussed, I'll jest marry Jabez Chow any way. What's the use of not doing it now?"
at
Yora McLaughlin and wifo were Maco yesterday. lirattou Bros, went to Bainbridge this morning with some premium hogs
Mrs. P. M. Brown went to Waynetown this morning to visit friouds and relatives.
Well, Granther Peeks ho felt he'd made a mistake and be kinder coaxed her up a while, and said he'd take tho cuss back, and got her to go tobodquiet. But when sho waked up next day, mean ing to run away and marry Jaboz, sho found granther id been before her. He'd nailed and locked and barred tho whole house up its if it was a prison, and left just a little hole in tho kitchen shutter for her to sw to cook by, Tho front door ho kept tho key of In his pocket, and he wits grinning liko ft monkey to seo how smart ho'd been. "I guess wo won't have any more ineetin's by moonlight, my dear," says he, sardonic and unple usant aa ever could lie. "When stores is needed I'll go out, and you've got pump in the kitchen." "You don't mean to lock mo up this way for good, granthor''" says Corianna "I shall die of want of air and exercise, So will you." "I guess I kin stand it," says granther.
When you want fresh air you kin stick our head out of that there appychuro in the shutter and draw it in, and today I want pancakes with rawsberry jell into tun and lots of colTeo. I worked real hard last night pnttin' up them fastening and I want stren'tlieniii', Corianna." SiIO jest looked at him when ho said that. She didn't durst trust herself to say notliin'. She had ideas that sho was keerful of pnttin' into language, see'n' sho wits speakin' henna's pa, and he risin' eighty. But all she got by that wits these here cruel words:
Don't goggle at me, Corianna. It's worse than sassin'." So while she was a-fryin' tho cakes she kept savin' over aud over to herself:
Now I lay ine," and "Twinkle, twinkle, little star," to keep back her nat'ral wickedness. She'd slaved for that old man and she'd been fond of him, and this is what had come of it. She told us all this through the hole in the shutter. We got kinder scared, you know, seein' the house shut up, and went to call, but didn't got let in but artera while, when we'd knocked and knocked a spell to the front door and the side door, wo went round to the back, and there was poor Corianna's face a-stickin' out of the hole in the shutter. Tho tears rolled down her cheeks as sho told us the story, and we had to cry, too, mo and Miss Pinney, and Mies Peters and Maria Brown. Maria Brown sho was just proposin' hreakin' down the door and carryin' poor Coriaima off when a upstairs shutter ipeiied and Granthor Peeks poked his head out. "Sec hero, folkses," said lie, "a man tas a right to keep his house shot or open as he pleases, and to order IUH wlminin folks as lie sees fittin'. You tccli bolt, or bar, or lock, or hook on my premises, and I'll shoot you down fust and have you took up for burglars afterward, and I'd hev the law on my side, tu. Then ho showed u. a big boss pistol, and Bays ho, "It's loaded," and wo scattered, but I wrote on a picivof paper, "I'll tell
Jabez," and gave it up to Corianna, protendiu'to kiss her good-by. And never wits I so thankful that 1 oilers carried pencil in my pocket for new recipes For sho needed comfort, ami I guess them words gave her a little. I kept my promise, and that night Jabez pranced about the house, but couldn't get a i»eep at her. No more ho couldn't for a couple of days. But at litst be thought of tootiu' through a fish horn. If there was anything Granther Peeks liked it was fish. So ho says (.'orianna, "Peek out, Corry, and nee of that's shad shad's in season."
So (Jorry poked her head out of the hole and saw .Jabez blowin' the horn, and as soon as he saw her he up and kissed her at the shutter hole. I "Keep up courage, Corianna," he said, "this tiling can't last long." "I sha'n't," says Corianna "that know. Granthor says the law can't make a man open his doors, and 1 don't reckon it ran and nobody has a right to demand my freedom, i:. fur as I know.' "Your husband wo- I," nays Jalxiz.
"I ain't got none," says Corianna. "Have ou:\" says Jabez. "How bo I to go to my wedding?" Bays Corianna. "Corianna," savs Jabez, "let your wedding come to you." "Corry, how's the fish?" says Granther from inside. "It isn't shad," says Cony, "and I guess it's stale." "Ob." says Granther, "don't buy noiio ef it's stale!" "I sha'n't," savs t'orrv "I'll look keerful."
Out of the winder she sticks her head again. "When your granther is at tea, Corianna," says JIIIM'Z, "you come to tbo hole. It's 0 o'clock, I suppose?" "About (I," says Corianna. "Things will be fixed all right after that," says Jiiliez. "Keep up your sperits."
How's tho fish?" itsks Grauther Pecks. Awful!" says Corianna, giving Jabez a kiss and drawing her head in.
Sho felt lots happier, for sho bad con ftdenco In Jaliez, though sho didn't know how bo was going to hx it
That evening she came down to tea all dressi"d up, and she made Granther Peeks a lovely lot of cakes ond an omelet, and ho sot down to table just as the clock struck 0, with a crash towel under bis chin, an began to eat as ef he hadn't had anytliing before for a fortnight and as soon as bo did so Corianna began to fan herself with a big palmleaf fan tlint always stood behind the kerosene lamp, and says sho:
Oh, for a breath of air! I've got to have breath of idr or choke!" You kin git it at tho liolo in tho winder, then," says Granther Peeks. "You know my reggylations."
Thou Corianna she (lew to tho winder shutter hole and she poked her head out, and there she saw sight!
Close against tho house stood Jabez Chow, with white gloves and a white tio onto him and behind him wits his brother, Plummer Chow, ditto and fother side was Sully Post, ull rigged up ill white, with a bouquet, for bridemaid and between them was Dominie Chalmers, that had baptized her nnd next him was Dominie Brown, from Portertown and all over the garden was scattered tho fust residents of tho village, and all tho Uttln hoys and gals was perched on tho fences and tho man with melons had stopped Ids cart to see tho spectacle—for such It was—and there was Squire Peeler, justice of tho peace, perched on top of tho wood shed— "a-waiting my turn fur to act in this hero case, ladles and gentlemen," ho says in tliem there commanding tones of his'n.
Well, when Corianna saw all this she tnrned first rod und then white. Wo Indies all kissed our hands to her, and tho jodgo atop tho woodshed ho li'lsted bis hat. Tho rest of tho men all took off theirs, and tho dominie he turned around and lifted up his hand, and commenced to talk jest as ef he was in meetin*. When he came to askin' whether there wits any ono present that could give a reason why that there ceremony should not perceed ho waited quite a spell: but nobody answered but tho jedge, who remarked official and serious from the woodshed, "Go ahead, dominie!"
Then the dominie wont ahead, and all went on quite reg'lar, except when Corianna. disappeared from the winder hole quite sudden because Granther Peeks hollered for more honey, and once when sho had to fry him another cako to top off with—which space of time wo occipied singing hymns.
However, tho dominie got her married all safe, ring on and all and writ out certificate, and tho witnesses signed it, and Jabez kissed her and so did the bridouudd and then the squire came down off the woodshed and went round to tho front door, and battered onto the panels and rung tho bell until Granther Peeks Btuck his head out of the winder, and savs he:
How de do, jedge?" Fair to ndddlln'," savs tho judge. "Why Peeks?
don't you open your door, Mr.
I ain't openin' no says Granthor Peeks. Guess you've' got to," says tho judge. "There's a man sayB you'vo got his wife shut up there."
doors jest now,
I ain't!" says Granther. "Thoro ain't nobody here hut Corianna she's a spin ster and inv grandartor."
Mr. Chow, you jest step here," say tho judge. So Jabez comes around the house. "Demand your wifo," says tho judge "Well, I'm here, Mr. Peeks, for that purjioso. You'vo got my wife, Mrs. Jabez Chow, in there and I want her, says Jabez. "Your wife?" says granther grinning. "Yes. sir," says the dominie following "I've jest married them." "I assisted," says Dominie Brown "Will the witnesses como forwi says the judge.
Then we all trooped uround the house, "Yon si'o, granther," says .Tubes'., "Cu pid don't need doors to get inatef the.ro1: over#o little a hole in the shutter. "fwas a very romantical speech, but the occasion kinder worked Jabez up, reckon, and hi was sort of inspired.
It seems that just then Corianna went up to granther and showed him her ring and her certificate, and that, settled it
In a minute more he opened tho door and we walked in. lie was cryin' hard "Oh, Jalx z, Jabez!" says he, "how could you? Nobody olso kin make pan cakes that I kin digest only Corianna Now I will starve to death!" "No, you sha'n't," says Jaliez." Can you board with us, or we board with you? and she ean fry 'em all day, if you want her to and she's so disposed." "Of course I will," says Corianna.
Then Granther Peeks got out his red pocket li.andkercher and wiped his eyes.
Ef you'd explained tlict thoro to ino before, Jalx z," says ho, "I wouldn't made no objections but doin' without Corianna's pancakos was a matter of life and (lentil to me, my son."
Then they shook hands so did everybody nil round, and we had the biggest eupper that night, and tho greatest dance In the barn afterwardl—Mary Kylo Dallas in Fireside Companion
