SOMETHING TO BENEFIT CRAWFORDSVILLE. Unless the people of Crawfordsvillo and Moutgomury county soon do something to stir tho lifo-blood of our community, it will 1x3 in a stato of utter stagnation. Tho recent census reports are anything but enoouraging. Wo aro not gaining iu population, and, until now enterprises of somo kind aro sot on foot, wo have no use for an increase of population. People must havo something to do, and thoy must go whoro tlioy can 11 ud employment. It is no uso to deny tho faot that wo aro a slow and unonterpriBing peopla Our men of means are continually hunting places abroad to invest their surplus capital, instead of building up our own community by cstab):.sliiug now industries at home. We must quit this foolishness or become mere straggler.: in tho march of events. In tho progress of development, onr farming population has reachod a stage where there must bo a change. Wo can no longer go on raising a littlo wheat, a littlecorn and a fowcattlo. We must have a great diversity of farming pursuits. Tho dairy business is far moroprofitable than any ordinary fanning, and tlioro is no point iu tho whole country more favorably situated for such a business than Montgomery county. Wo are surrounded by such cities as St. Louis,

Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Louisyillo, in every ono of which there is a largo consumption of dairy procucts, We havo on opportunity now to start a factory hero, and if wo aro not ontiroly destituto of prudent foresight, we shall not let this enterprise slip by us and go elsewhere. With such markets all around us as wc havo mentioned, tho Croomory cannot fail. If ono can SUO' coed anywhore, it can here, and this i» nu undertaking that should interest the 1'oople of town and country alike. The milk from 2,000 COWB daily pouring into our city would give new lifo to both city and country. The money that has been squandered abroad in mcro gambling speculation in tho last twenty years, would have a paradiso of Montgomery county nud ono of tho most prosperous oitioa in tho Stato, of Crawfordsvillo. Let us profit by our past experience and go to improving at homo. Let our brushgrown woods bo turned into blue grass pastures, our swamps into fruitful meadows, and lot tho milk wagons como and go on every one of our good free gravel roads.

The proposed crcamery projectors liavo commenced canvassing all the main roads, in order to see how much milk will bo promised them to start on. Thoy want tho milk from our oows aad •will have maohiuoiy to work tho milli of 2,000 cows daily. Bo ready to BOO tho xanvasser. If you are missed drop a card to tlio Creamery Company, telling tliem how much milk you can furnish by November,
