It was ^^ve crowd that left the city at, ocfiSFyeSterday to upend the day at the Shades of Death. Bige BayIOHS transported tho crowd and the destination was reached in good time. The jolly crowd of compositors at once dispersed and proceeded to do the place in the most approved style. The swing, tho Ixiats, the fish, the ladies and other amusements which the management affords had no rest until the elegant dinner was announced, and it had nono until it was wiped out. It was a novel experience for them to eat "pi" instead of making it, but they did themselves proud. At 3 o'clock an hour's storm raged, and it was after 4 before the home start was made and after 0 o'clock when home was leached, by a tired but satisfied crowd of printers. The following notice was found poston all the printing oflice doors after the sturt yesterday: "The first streaks of uirly dawn wore glimmering in.the east the .^lrill clarion notes of Berl Jones' old Hlianghi rooster rang out on the morning air large crowds were collected on housetops, steeples, etc telescopos were pointed in the diroction of Liongview and all was exoitement and confusion it appeared that the great Judgment day had arrived and the people were trembling with expectation a cloud of dnst waS scon arising on the W "rikaggs" Casad had AT LAST peared and tho picnio wagons muly to start."
