A Receiver Appointed.
Mat Doherty is in the city. He says in regard to the trouble in the tirm at Chattiiuoogn. that it arose from the fact that a book-keeper who had been discharged left things in bad shape and some money could not be accounted for, Bruce Carr asked for a receiver. The court at the suggestion of Doherty and the other paitner, Henderson, appointed Mr Henderson himself receiver.

Worthy of the Imitation by Orawfordaville Frankfort News: When Rev. W. Slutz became the pastor of the M. For whomf" is asked. Smith, any of tho Smith family," not thinking that implied a look through twenty-six boxes. Diligent search is made in tho inner apartments of the boxes and the answer, "Nothing."
I can't see why I got no letters I ought to have one sure." This is said ma very insinuating way, implying that tho delivery clerk was purposely withholding letters, when tho truth is. the clerk is only too glad to get rid of all the letters as soon as possible. One reason why letters fail to reach their destination, and the principal reason is, becauso of carelessness in directing letters. Sometimes the namo of tho ad. dressed is so badly spoil'*!,or so illegibly written, that nothing short of omnipotence could decipher it. Again the name of the postoffice is so written that if the mailing clerk should seud it to hades he would be excused. "Bra?.," for perhaps Brazil and
OrvlLnd," probably intended for Groveland or, it may bo VanDiemanslntul, or some other demon's land but the latter most go, or be "held for better direction." If sent, it may reach its destination or land in Halifax. If held for better direction, Gabriel might play his solo before the writer can bo found.
Another: "U. S. Stookyards, Ills.," This is not so obscure, as Illinois is a big town and is considerable of a stockyard. If persons writing letters would think a moment and observe a few simple rules, their letters would be delivered more promptly. ..
Write the address plainly. Don ex-' pect the postal service to know what you are thinking about.
If you are not positive as to the postoffice you wish to send to, wait till you go to the office, where you can oonsult a guide.
Finally, if you fail to receive a letter when you expect it, don't kick. If an employe of the office should make a mistake, remember that to err is human to kick is infernal. Ycart.

U0L0BED NOTES,
Social at the A. M. £. church to morrow night. Ed Clay was down from Lafayette yesterday.
The exeroises at tho A. M. E. church last night was quite interesting. Tho select reading by Walter Seymore was pronounced one of the grandest readings ever read before the Bociety. The paper
The province of reason in regard to Faith" was well received. The meeting as a whole was a decided suocess. In arranging the programme for tho next meeting it was decided to have a debate. Question—resolved, that slavery was a greater curse in its time than whisky. Thomas White and L. R. Monroe having the affirmative. Walter Seymore and Elder Coleman will have charge of the negative. Let everybody come out.
There Is more catarrh In this part of the country than all other diseases put together, and until tho last few years was supposed to be Incurable. For number of years doctors pronounced it a local disease, and prescribed local reme dies, and by constantly failing to cure with local treatment pronounced It incurable. Science has proven catarrh to be a constitutional disease, and therefore requires constitutional treatment. Hall's Catarah Cure, manuiaccured by F. J. Cheney fc Co., Toledo, Ohio, is the only constitutional euro on the market. It Is taken Internally In doses of 10 drops to a teaspoonful. It acts directly on the blood and mucus surfaces of the system. They offer one hundred dollars for any case it falls to cure. Send for circular and testimonials. Address,

No More Wrinkled
A frown will mar the prettiest face. It doesn't matter about a boy, but the small girl docs vlolenco to beauty and youth by ruflling her forehead or fluting hor brow. It Is, too, a habit acquired very early in life. After her pouting days are over she begins to frown, and keeps on frowning until old enough to realise the banefulness of the habit. In other words, each ridge is supposed to add a decade to her apparent age. Now somebody has made the discovery of a couple of muscles between the bridge of the nose and the root of the hair which can be cut without pain or injury to the feelings or face. The services of a skilled surgeon are secured, who applies tho knife, severs the delicate cords, dresses the wound, and after the skin heals the forehead becomes as smooth as the temple, and, what Is most remarkablo, remains so. Whoever says that the Now York woman does not study her glass is a sublimated Mint. Her motto of lifo is, "Know thyself."—Now York World.
