Nordeck.
The appearance of Frank Mayo in "Nordeck" is the dramatic event of the season so far. In order that those who will see the play for the first time tonight may better appreciate it wo give beforehand a brief synopsis: Waldemar Nordeck, the hero, is the issue of a messallianoe, his father a wealthy German of common origin, his mother a daughter of the noble Polish family of Morynski's. She deserts her husband shortly after the birth of his son. He disinherits her and deprives her of the control of the son shortly after he is assassinated. She marries again, has another son, Leo, and again becomes a widow. At tho opening of the play Waldemar has grown to manhood. Tho princess, his mother, sends for him he hastens to her, hungry for a mother's love, and hails this call as a long deferred cry of her hoait for his. JVith him, on his return to the castlo, is on uncle who has had the oare of hiin, and who is full of hate and fears and tries to persuade Waldemar to return home with him. The Princess finds them together, and, angry at the uncle, evinces a coldness wliioh Waldemar thinks intended for him alone. Stung by hor apparent dislike he is rushing away in a fit ol rage when his cousin, Wanda Morynski, appears upon the scene he recognizes her as one whom he had guided through the forest in the morning. Here commences the love interest of tho work. Waldemar sees the need of an education and goes to tho University. Ho leaves Vidica and its revenues in charge of his mother, and during his two years' absence she uses them to further certain Polish plots. Waldemar arrives home just in time to frustrate these and becomes master of the situation. Bitter scenes follow between mother and son. She sees and recognizes the nobility of Wuldemar, but, in her anger at defeat, tries to drown an ever growing love for him. The son, Leo, jealous of him, orders him assassinated. Tho mother discovers this and the great natural instinot of a mother's love finally conquers, and she tries to save him, abandoning her Polish (chemos of jvolutiou. The clouds of hate roll away and the sunshine of love beams brightly over all. The mother is reconciled to her son, and, with Wanda clasped to his breast, Nordeck finds the fruition of all his hopes and desires.

by local application, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of tho ear. There is only one way to cure Doafness, and that iB by constitutional remedies. Deafness is cauned by an inflamed condition of the mucus lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube gets inflamed you have a rumbling sound or inperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed Deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will bo destroyed forever nine cases out of ten are caused by catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed oondition of tho mucus surfaces.

The resolution to be offered at tho convention provides that if tho coming Strauss orchestra stands the tost of an examination before exports all opposition will cease. One of tho tests proposed is the playing at sight of one of Cappa's overtures, and he has, it Is said, about 700 of these alone in this repertoire. It is also tho intention of a largo number of dologatos to point out that where Gilmore and Cappa received S5,000 for a -week's service in their summer tours, Edouard Strauss is expected to take only 53,000.
