REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES
To be Held on Thursday, April 10, For the Nomination of a City Ticket. Tho Republican voters of the city of Crawfordsvillo will hold primary elections in tho several wards of the city on Thursday, April 10,1890, for tho purpose of nominating ticket to bo voted for at the regular election in May.
The voting places will bo as follows: First Ward, Hirst's feed store (Baneliel shop) on Pike street. Second Ward, tho oouuty surveyor's office iu the court house. Third Ward, the office of the RobbinB Houso on east Muin street.
The arrangements of the voting places will be as follows: At the door of tho voting place on tho outside will bo stationed two Republicans, ono on each side of tho door, soleoted for their knowledge of the Republican voters iu the ward. On tho inside of tho voting plate will be stationed a ticket holder, a clerk, an inspector, a ballot box and a table with stamp (X) thereon, in a part of 10 room away from the ticket holder, olerk aud inspector. Thoro will bo but one entrance to the voting room and the voter shall come out through tho same door.
The mothod of voliug will be as follows: Tho person desiring to vote shall present himself to the sentries at the door. If they kuow him to bo a Ropublioan aud a voter of the ward, they shall admit him into tho voting room. If tho sentries cannot agree as to tho voter, tho question shall bo decided by the inspector, tiokot holder aud clerk by a majority vote. Tho voter having passed iuto tho room shall annouuee his uamo and receive a ticket from tho ticket holder, he shall thou pass to tho table provided with a stamp and shall there mark with a cross-work, X, in front of tho name, tho names of tho candidates for whom ho desires to ote for the several offices to bo lillod. After properly marking his ticket, ho shall fold the same so as to conceal tho printed side and pass over and hand tho ticket to tho inspector who shall immediately in tho presenco of tho voter deposit the same in tho ballot box and the clerk shall record him is hiving voted. *No voter shall remain iu tl-e rjom longer tli'in two minutes, tho inspector to bo time keeper, and only ono voter, exolusivo of the ticket hol.ler, olerk aud inspector shall bo iu tho voting room at a time. No voter shall be allowed to outer the voting room until tho voter who has preceodod him shall have como out.
Tickets will bo prepsred with the names of all the candidates printed thoreon aud with 1111 appropriate device at the head.
No tickets will bo distributed except by the tiokot holder to the voters as thoy como iu—one to each voter— aud no ticket will bo allowed to bo voted or if voted will Iks counted excopt tho regular tickets printed as aforesaid and distributed by tho clerks.
The several votiug places will bo opou btU clock a. m., a'ld close at (i p. m., romaiuing opou during ail of said time except tho time for dinner not to exooed one-half hour. Meals will bo served iu tho voting lx.oni as in ordinary elections. in caso any voter by reason of defective eyesight or inability to road shall be enabled to properly mark his ticket, ho may call upon tho clerk who shall iu tho presence of tho inspector and ticket holder, mark his ticket as tho voter may desire.
No person shall be admitted to otc simply upon his doclaratiou that ho will support tho nominees, but to be entitled to admission ho must be known to boo Republican.
Immediately after the close of tho TotiuK plftotss tliu ticket holder, in* snoctor and clerk iu their respective wds shall proceed to count tho bal lots, and shall preserve the Banio and certify tho result to tho Chairman of tho City Committee. The Potato Greek Revival.
The groat revival is still iu progrets at tho Potato Creek church. Revi H. M. Middleton was called there yesterday and preached last night. He says it is the most wonderful religious awakoning that he ever witnessed. Scores aud scores have been converted and thore seems to be uo abatement in the interest. The minister, Rev. J. P. Spohn, is about worn out with W"rk, but I10 feels that tho meetings should coutinuo so long as good is being ac complished.
