The Weather and the Poor. There has been some discussion as to whether this style of was not after all harder on the poor man than a severe season, on account of the faot that the cold weather usually brings with it some kinds of work whioh is not required in summer time. An inquiry at Trustee Henry's oflico revealed the fact tluUthe oalls from the needy were less than usual this winter. "The amount of food furnished is about the same but the fuel bill is greatly reduoed, in faot hardly amounts to anything at all," said Mr. Henry.

On a green knot! stands a cosy cottage built Gothic style. Over the windows clamber the fragrant honey-suckle, while the jossamino twines about the lintels of the door.
On the ov *ning broeze is borne the fragrance of autumnal flowers. Let us glanoe in at the lighted window. Here is the pleasant sitting room of the family. A cheerful fire burns on the marble hearth before us. Before it are seated the aged grandparents, while the children gather around to listen to stories of the good old times. In the center of the room stands'a small table around which the father sits reading the evening paper, and the mother busily engaged with her needle sits there also. A young girl sits at the pia'no and sings some sacred hymns.
