THE LAST CHANGE.
J. D. Tracy Will Succeed J. P. Brennan in Postoffice. The last and most important change in the Orawfordsville postoffice, excepting the change of the postmaster himsolf, will be niado on the first day of February. Ou that day Joseph D. Tracy will succeed James P, Brennan us money order clerk. Mr. Tracy will go to work in the office immediately and until February will be under tho tutelage of Ills predecessor. Tho position has moro responsibility attached to it than any other in the oflice and a post master must exercise great cure in selecting a fit man. In choosing Tracy, Postmaster Bonnell has made 110 niistake. The now clerk is a deserving old soldier as well as a man capablo of performing the arduous duties of his position. To the retiring clerk, Jim
Brennen, THE JOURNAL can say to him that his only fault is that he is a Demo orat. During his term of service he has been efficient and conrteous and he will be remembered by the public for these two things.
"Only a Farmer's Daughter." The greatest and most successful of all American comedy dramas, "Only Farmer's Daughter," will be presented in Musio Hall next Friday evening. This is the twelfth year of this remarkable play, and strange as it may seem, its drawing powers are as great to-day as at any time since it was first produced. The great secret of this is in the fact that it is a clean play throughout, interesting from tho first scene to the final act drop and that the lesson it conveys is as pure and wholesome as any sermon ever delivered from the pulpit. No one can witness a representation of "Only a Farmer's Daughter" without feeling better for it. It will be presented here by a first class company, tho strongest the manager guarantees, that was ever formed for the presentation of the play, and as he is one of the most responsible managers in the profession, and never having been known to break faith with tho public, his word should be taken in this instance. The company iB led by the young, charming and beautiful artiste, Grace Hilton, Mr. Charles Mortimer a bright and talented young actor, and little Jetsie Lloyd, acknowledged by all to be one of the most promising oliild actresses on the stage. With a good play, such ah "Only a Farmer's Daughter," is known to be, a good company and accessories Music Hall should oontnin next Friday evening, one of the largest audiences of the season.
The Laws of Indiana.'
Tho four articles on "The Laws of Indiana, Their Defects and Omissions" by Judge John C. Chumasero, recently published in THE JOUIINAL have attracted wide spread attention. Lawyers here find their sentiments voiced. They know true every statement is and realize the disgrace ol it all. But to nearly all others the distressing state of affairs was a revelation. We are pleased to announoe that Judge Chumasero has contributed a fifth article, which will shortly appear, in which he seta forth the tribulations and delays experienced by a poor creditor trying to collect an honest debt from his rich debtor.
