Influenza.
A careful study of this disease BIIOWS it to bo so closely allied catarrhal fevor that it requires a consultation of physicians to determine tho matter. Report gives out a number of cases in tho city, but investigation throws doubt Bround each caso. Perhaps tho most sovere caso is that of O. N. Williams, who has boon aillicted for some days. Mrs. Dr. Gott is reported sick with tho disease, but is recovering. Howard Craig, of the mail carrier force, is off duty, said to bo in tho grip of LaGrippe. Interviews with physicians develops tho fact that, in thoir opinion, there is not nor has been, a single caso in the city. Di. Hutchings claims a dozen or more cases, butf thinks they are nothing but catarrhal fevor cases. Dr. May is positive there aro uo cases of the regular Russian inllucnza in the city. A number of his patients are afflicted with the old catarrhal fever but he disbelieves in tho LaGrippe business, and claims where it strikes a locality it is epidemic and spreads over tho laud liko a cold wave. Said he: "You can safely say there is uo LaG"ippe in Crawfordsvillo."
Disappearance.
Yesterday morning Mr. John Wclty strayed away from homo aud not appearing in the eveniug, his family grew uueasy about him and instituted Bearch. A number of his neighbors started out and searched all last niggt but without avail. Nothing has been heard from him since yesterday, when he was
Been
at tho toll house on the Yountsville road. As Mr. Welty has been suffering from abei ration of mind for some time, fears are entertained that ho may meet with a serious accident. Since writing the above, word comes that Mr. Welty was found early this morning near Mace at a farm houso where ho had been kindly cared for.
A Good Time.
Montgomery Lodge No. 38, I. O. O. 1' .. enjoyed an excellent treat last night. There were two initiations and the ceremony was intrusted to the Xs'ew Ross team, whose work wasdeclaredtobe the best ever seen in the lodge. A number of visiting brethren from Waynetown helped to enjoy tho occasion and all felt pleased with tho evening's work. This commingling of the members of organizations from various lodges is conducive of good fellowship and is also instructive. It should be kept up and not confined to one institution, but nil should follow tho omample.
Public Installation.

At Kokomo man went to a bath house to bathe. He got into the tub and tho gas was lighted under the tub to warm the water. Then tho attendant left, aud forgetting all about it, und the bather being seized with paralysis, ho was boiled to a pulp. This may bo better than cremation.
