A DANGEROUS DOSE,

Few People Belize the Danger Lurking in tbe Average Headache Remedy. A movement- has been started by prominent physicans to prohibit the sale of headache nostrums.

The majority of these remedies contain ingredients that act quickly on the heart. They are poisonous and have, in a number of cases, proven fatal to the one taking the concoction to relieve the pain. . A headache remedy that will give quick relief must contain some drug to quicken the action of the heart. Any stimulant for the heart is a menance to life and should be avoided as so much arsenic. Distress after eating, headache, nervousness, constipation, insomia, pain around the heart, and all stomach and liver troubles are the result of impure blood and a weakened and debilitated state of the system. Make the organs healthy and there will be no need of headache nostrums. A new combination of thoroughly tried and tested remedies for the cure of all liver and stomache troubles and the purification of the blood is now offered to suffering mankind. They are widely known as Knox Stomach Tablets. A sarsaprilla in a tablet form, containing more curative properties than any other blood remedy known. Those suffering from catarrh, nervousness, biliousness, consti pat ion, liver trouble, dyspepsia and ajl forms of stomach disdrders, will find a fifty cent box, containing fifty tablets, worth more than gold. They build up the whole system and make strong healthy men and women out of invalids, affording immediate relief for indigestion and postively curing dyspepsia. If unable to secure them of your druggist send fifty cents, together, with the address of your dealer, to the Knox Chemical Co. , Battle Creek, Mich., and a full sized box will be mailed, postpaid.

The gathering was for the ipur

pose of selecting a chairman of

the congressional committee,

there being three candidates, Nat

0. Hill of Monroe, Peter Wads

worth of Oaviess and John C.

Chancy of Sullivan.

These were all candidates this

morning, but after numerous

conferences between the various 11 . SM-ft

delegations sumcient pressure

was brought to bear unon Messrs.

Wadsworfh and Chaney to cause them to withdraw from the race

and leave Mr. Hill a clear field.

It is said Mr. Wadsvvorth was sidetracked with the promise of the Republican nomination for

congress, but what inducement

was held out to Mr. Chaney is

not known. Besides the congressional con

vention the judicial convention for

the nomination of a candidate for

prosecuting attorney was also

held at 10 o'clock this forencon.

This meeting was a mere formal

affair, however, as both the coun

ties of the district, Lawrence and

Monroe, has insructed for Hon.

Robert G. Miller of Bloomiugton.

who has been Mr. Zaring's depu

ty. This being a cinch for Mr.

Miller there was nothing for the

convention to do but meet and an nounce him as the nominee. Mayor Johnson called the meet

ing to order. Hon. H. A. Lee

was chairman and Walter Brad

fute secretary. Prosecutor Zar-

ing placed Mr. Miller's name be fore the convention and the nom

ination was seconded by J. Hick-

son Smith of Lawrence and Sena

tor Duncan of Bloomington, wl?o

moved that Mr. Miller's nomina

tion be taken by acclamation.

Mr. Miller responded in a fitting

address of thanks.

Robert G. Miller, the nominee

for prosecutor, is a native of Tip-

pecanoe county and is about 30

years old. He is a graduate of

Indiana university and has been

the deputy under Jas. A Zaring for two years. He is a partner

m law with A. M. Hadley, mayor

of Bloomington, and a very agreeable young man in every way, and popular with the Monroe county bar. The interesting meeting and the one that brought the crowd together was that which met in the courthouse at 1 o'clock this afternoon to nominate the district chairman. The delegation from Greene county was the first to arrive, coming in Monday forenoon and all day long they were in conference with tbe leaders here.

Other delegations came in on nearly every train since,, the last getting here this forenoon on the Monon train from the south, and altogether they make a right good crowd of Republicans. The district convention was called together by Hon. Nat U. Hill and Hon. T. J. Brooks, of this city, was selected as chairman of the convention. The Republican editors present were elected secretaries. They were Walter Bradfute, of the Bloomington T:-phr.-r.o: P. A. Hastings, of the

Washington Gazette; Harley Bur

rell, of the Odon Commercial; F

A Likely, of the Bedford Repub lican; W. K. Penrod, of the Loo

gootee Tribune; Howard Chitty

of the Mitchell Commercial, anc

F. B. Otis, of the Bedford Mail.

A motion was then made anc

carried that a committee to draf

resolutions be appointed. Chair

man Brooks created considerable

amusement as he pulled the lis of names for the committee ou

of his vest pocket with the remark

that his motion was a surprise to

him. To the uninitiated it woulc seem like a waste of time inasmucl

as type written copies of the reo

lutions had already been made and

the committee had nothing in the world to do with the making of them. However they retired to

the jury room to make believe they

were doing something, and while they were gone the roll of counties was called for nominations for dis

trict chairman. As the thing had

already been fixed, there was but

one name presented. On the cal of Monroe county Hon. Ira Bat

man in a very eulogistic speech

presented the name of Hon. Na

U. Hill, and on the call of Sulli

van county with no response, M

Wallace, delegate from Daviess,

moved to make the election un animous, which was done.

Mr. Hill thanked the convention

for the honor, etc.. and demanded

the assistance of the Republicans

in sending a Republican to Congress in place of our own Bob Miers But the fact that Mr. Hill refused

to make the race for congress him self, instead of throwing the nom

ination as sop to Peter Wards-

worth, shows how much faith he

has in the ability of himself and

associates to defeat Hon. R. W Miers. At the conclusion of Mr. Hill'

speech the committee on resolu

tions was ready to report the

resolutions that had been prepared

for them, and which were in three

sections or "points of pride, '"viz:

4 'We point with pride" to the

achievement of Dewey ot Manila

and the policy of the Philippines.

"We point with pride" to our

senators in the U. S. Congress.

"We point with pride" to the

Republican administration of the

affairs in the state of Indiana.

After the resolutions, which

were of course adopted, Messrs.

Wadsworth and Chaney were

given an opportunity to be heard

and others were called on to say a

few words.

Nat. U. Hill, selected district

chairman today, was acting chair man in the last compaign. He is

president of the First National

Bank and a foremost citizen of Bloomington. He is personally very popular regardless of party

and it is said will be placed on the executive committee by State Chairman Hernley. Bedford
