And the "dry plant'5 still stands.

The Dry Plant is still a source of annoyance and a breeder of smells and profanity about the square. The Progress is glad to note ancthor business enterprise has begun operations in Bloomington. We refer to the Reed steam laundry, and now that we have two such excellent establishments, is there need to send your dirty linen out of town.

The jury in the Aucil Adams case against the Western Union Telegraph Company for damages for failure to deliver a message, returned a verdict this morning, after an all night deliberation assessing the damages at $700 They also returned a special finding of answers to interrogatories submitted by the counsel in the case. Adams alleged that a telegram was sent him from a Missouri towuand the company failed to deliver it. He sued for $1,500 and was represented by Henley and Wilson.

We have not heard of the decision of Miller & Hadley to stake their professional reputatiou on the libel suit they have brought against our weekly paper. We sincerely hope they will do this, and put forth theii;; best efforts to win, because there is more at stake than the money consideration .named. If our statement was false we have seriously maligned the city and its people, if not, there is something: radically wrong with the administration that allowed such a place to continue. The trial will determine which is right, and we look for justice being meted out without fear or favor, and the responsibility placed where it belongs.

We have been served with summons to appear in court, and give eause why we should notcontribute the small sum of $5,000 because of telling this truth. Our position has been repeatedly stated, and we court a trial on the merits of the case. In fact, we demand a trial, and a trial must now b e given the case, because of the broad notoriety given it. It will settle the question of our veracity. Either the Republican Progress, lied, told and published a deliberate malicious falsehood, or told the truth and will be vindicated. We are ready and willing to appear in court on this issue. We hope the firm of attorneys who are pushing the case will stake their professional reputation on it as we are ready to stake our reputation for truth and honesty. We

matter and look for good

The battle made in this 'is an earnest that no more

. if alls like Norman's place can

run in this city, because the

Toral standing of the community depends to a greater or less de

gree upon the outcome of the

trial. More anon.
