DEATH OF GAPT. G. K. PERRY.

The entire community was shocked on Friday night when taw a of the death of Capt. Perry was made known. He was in ordinary health Friday, and in the beat of spinta. After supper he wciit to the Oolite club room, aa was hia custom, to spend the evening, and while there played whist with Charles Barnbill,".). S. Botta and Frank Brodix. At about 10 o'clock he left for home, C46 N. College Avenue, arriving there at about 10.10. He went into the house, took off his overcoat and hat, hung them up, and in response to an

inquiry from Mrs. Perry eaid be had spent the evening at the club room. He then took a few steps toward her, threw up hit hnnds and fell backward. When efforts were made to resuscitate him it was found that he was dead. He had not coaplaiucd of any pain and it is presumed that his death was due to the rupture of a blood vessel on the brain. Capt. Perry was born in Rockland, Maine, Dec. 26th, 1831, and was the eldest of four children. He was a brother of Maj. Henry F. Perry, one of Bloomington's mst honored citizens. His father perished on tba coast of Florida in a shipwreck, and his mother died in Rockland, Maine, in 1882. When 7 years of age Capt. Perry entered an academy at Salem, Mass., where he remained for two years. En thuscd by the gold excitement in California during the 40's, he embarked with some dozen young friends for that country. His California venture was a profitless one, and in 1350 be came back to the States and settled in Eilettsville, Ind., engaging with his brother, H. F. Ferry, in the lumber trade. In 1861 he raised a company of volunteers and was chosen its captain, but refused to accept the position. He was afterwards elected 1st lieutenant of Co. G, 38th Indiana volunteers. In 1862 he was again elected a captain and served until 1863 and fought throughout the war with the army of the Cumberland. At the close of the war he returned to Etlettsville and engaged in the stone business with his brother. In June, 1SS5, he married Julia D. Hcaly, who died in October, 1877, leaving him with two daughters Mable, wife of Hon. Eph. lnman, of Washington, Ind., and Grace, wife of A. M. Bain, of Martinsville. His present wife was Miss Henrietta C. Hasslock,
