OUGHT TO PRESERVE IT. It is stated that the Indiana Legislature will take steps toward the purchase of the old State House at Corydon by the State and restoring it as State property. The building now belongs to Harrison conntv. and is used by that county as n court house. The old structure was Indiana's lirst State House. It was built in 1S16, shortly after the State was admitted into the Union, under the direction of Gen. William Henry Harrison, former President of the United States, and the grandfather of ex-President Ben jamin Harrison. The bnilding is of a blue limestone taken from the bottom of Indian Creek, near Corydon, and is in an excellent state of preservation.
