office that requires a great amount of judgment in its administration. Be careful, then, to scan your ticket and

Judge Gardiner represents all that is

good or desirable in politics, because he will uphold the hands of McKinley

so far aa his vote may go, in the House

of Representatives, aad will give es

pecial attention to the needs of the

old soldiers. Their pension claims

will be looked after, and he will promptly answer all correspondence

upon sach matters as will be of vital interest to them. It you wish to feel

well satiaffed with your ballot after

election see that you rote for Gardiner for Congressman.

-It is just as essential this fall

that tbe cause of Bound money be

espoused and voted for at the polls by Republicans and sound

money Democrats as it was in

189. The Republican who fails to vote this year is not much of a supporter of President McKinley. He will have difficult problems to solve, and congress ought to be on his side, and it is the duty of every Republican to vote. The Democratic party op

posed the bill to allow the soldiers in the field to vote in 1864. They opposed the same right in this war and are trying to disfranchise the old soldiers at the soldier homes in Indiana, and yet claim

to be the soldier's friend.

Ton Must Elect These Men. Wi have a board of commis

sioners, consisting of three good men. Two of these men are candidates for re-election: Monroe

Miller and Ezra Perring both are successful business men. It would certainly be to your advantage to retain these men in office and to do so be sure that year ticket, on tbe 8th of November, includes their names. Hays a correspondent in tbe Terre Hante Express: 'The

Southern Indiana has done much for the city of Bedford, and has given that place a greater advertisement than it ever bad before, for all tbe passenger equipment is marked 'Tbe Bedford Route.' The general offices are located there, and the plans for a handsome office building and a fine passenger station have been drawn. The buildings will go up in the spring, and will add materially to

tbe attractions of tbe city. Everybody Knows George. Tbe man to serve your sub

poenas, summons', write, etc., in a lawful, careful, and yet not in an offensive

manner, i George D. Thornton, the Be publican candidate for Sheriff. - You

should exert every effort to secure his re-election. An agreeable man for the

office is very desirable. A man ean make himself very offensive in thin position if he ia ignorant or arrogant. Everybody knows that George Thorn

ton ia one of the most genial young

men in the eonnty, and as intelligent

as he ia clever. You want him again

for Sheriff, remember. One of our business men was

asked to take a hand in politics

and replied, "My business is so engrossing just now I do not see hew I can spare the time. ' ' When told be was active in 1896, he

aid: "les, I had plenty of time then, and no business." The people know it. Everyone has more to do now than they did then, but

they will not forget to deposit their votes on the 8th of November to keep it so.

Accommodating Gentleman. Geo. D. Thobntok is the Re

publican candidate for the office of

sheriff.' Everybody knows him to be

kind, accommodating and gentlemanly. His competency is never questioned. Notice that your ticket has on it: "For Sheriff, George D, Thornton." Vote it that way, and you will be right. An exchange says President McKinley. was compelled to review a bicycle parade in Chicago. Yet there are some people who insist tbat the president of the United States doesn't earn bis salaryi'

The gentlemen inspoctcd the sand stono quarries below tow and were very favorably impressed with the ledge. It is

complain that some farmers and

local pot hunters havo already

commenced tbe slaughter of quail,

although the time docs net expire

till Nov. 10th, and that where

two weeKs ago large covies were to bo found, there remain but a

remnant of them. The. law is very explicit in regard to quail shooting and an example or two would serve as a good lesson te others. Salem Journal.

Parsnip Complexion. It does not require an expert to detect the sufferer from kidney trouble. The. hollow cheeks, the sunken eyes, the dark, puffy circles under f he eyes, the sallow, parsnip-colored complexion iuilicsitcs it. A physician would ask if you had

rheumatism, a dull pain or nuhe in the

buck or over the hips, stomach trou ble, desire to urinate often, or a burn

ing or scalding in passing it; if aftir

passing there is an unsatisfied feeling as if it must be at once repeated, or if the urine lias a brick dust deposit or strong odor. When these symptoms are present, no time should bo lost in removing the cause. Delay may leatl to gravel, catarrh of the bladder, inflammation, causing stoppage, and sometimes requiring the drawing of the urine with instruments, or may run into liright's disease, the most dangerousstage of kidney trouble. Dr. Kilmer's Swamp-Uoot, the great discovery of the eminent kidney and bladder specialist, is a positive remedy for such diseases. Its reputation is world-wide and It is so easy to get at any drug store that ne one need suffer

liny length of time for want of it.

However, if you prefer to first test

its wonderful merits, mention The Republican Progress and write to Dr. Kilmer 4 Co., llingham ton, N. Y,, for a sample bottle and book telling all about it, both sent absolutely free by mail.

Lict the Committee Keport. Evert Republican should constitute himself a committee of one to secure another man to vote a part at leastof tbe county ticket.
