The Ileoublican Meeting: In tho court house yard, last Saturday, was ona of the most intensely interesting gatherings that has been seen here in tho past two years. Long before the hour set for the meeting to begin crowds of people tilled each road leading to Bloomington, aud soon the streets of the town were crowded with men, women and children, who desired to hear tho truth as expounded by thoso noble representatives of liepubticanism: Hon. Frank Hanlcy of Lafayetto, and Hon. Ray Gardiner of Washington. Mr. Hanlcy is an eloquent orator, and the crowd of listeners grew larger each moment as he continued to speak. He was frequently interrupted by cheers from his audience, and the whole affair seemed more liko a huge lovo feast than like a political meeting. Mr. Gardiner, tho Republican candidate for Congross, spoke to tho peoplo as only he can, and his auditors hung upon his words and soemed loth to have him quit. The gallant boys of Co. H, 169th Ind. Vols, arrived ia Bloomington on Saturday forenoon at 11 o'clock, having been brought here by a special I. fc V. train from Indianapolis. As the company marched up Kirkwood avenue from the depot, they wer greeted by the cheers of thousands of people who had assembled to meet them. The men are bronzed by exposure to the sun, but without exception seem to bo enjoying the most exhuberent health. They were marched around the public square, led by tho Mechanics' band, and in tho court house park were greeted by assembled friends. A program had been prepared which ineluded short speeches. Maj. Perry acted as Mastor of Ceremonies, and remarks wore made by H. C. Duncan, John K. East and A. M, Hadley. Miss Eva East sang "Tho Star Spangled Banner" in her inimitable manner. At the conclusion of Mr. East's remarks the company marched to tho armory, where a fine dinnor had been prepared by the ladies of the city.
