tute will convene in old college
chapel August 15th to 19th. Supt. King expects to make this the most interesting and profitable institute ever held in Monroe county, and will endeavor to secure the best instructors in the State. Prof. W. 0. Palmer, superintendent at Ligonior, son-in-law of Capt. W. J. Allen, will give a series of lectures.

Bedford Mail: Jack O'Brien, who was injured at the SalemBedford mill in 1S92, by having his leg caught in a cog-wheel of the traveler, received 5,445 from the company today $4,750 being the amount of the judgment rendered in his favor in November, 1805, and the remainder being interest. One-third of the total amount went to O'Brien's attorneys, Dunn & Lowe, leaving lim $3,030. The ease was in court foa several years.

(colored) was fined $25 aud given a 30 day jail sentence last week for assault in a his daughter-in-law and son.

any line we have know ledge of. Lad. Lauman, now of Evansville, is visiting Lis mother in this
city. His right shoulder is about three inches Iowor than tho left owing to a bicycle accident. He took a header from his wheel, the tire having come off, and his col. lar bone was broken aud his head injured. He lay unconscious from Sunday till Friday. The collar bone has never been set laps over at the point where the fracture is. When ;he surgeons think he has sufficiently convalesced he will go back to the hospital and have the bones properly set.

A miracle! A man at Indianapolis has resigned a fat oflice! Jas. R. Henry has resigned his position as a member of tho board of managers for the Indiana Reformatory, at Jefferson ville. But Mr. Henry had a very solid reason for this almost unheard of action. He expects to receive the nomination for Stale Auditor and believed this resignation would make his chances better. Capt. Henry formerly resided in Gosporl, and removed from that village to Indiannpolis, where he
engaged in the banking business.
The district convention of the Ratlibone Tuuiple to he held hero Wednesday and Thursday of this week will be a most notable occasion. The
