The Perry, Matthews & Buskirk quarry, superintended by John Torphy is doiag a large business. They are working more men than any other quarry in the county, and ship their output to eastern cities. Ten caannelors are constantly pounding away. They sell blocks, having no saw mill here. Business has been good all year at this quarry. Miss Blanche Lyon, formerly a teacher in the schools of this place, is now residing at Center Valley, Hendricks co. The revival meetings at the M. E. church are progressing in a highly satisfactory manner. The attendance is large, a number of converts have been added to the ehurch, and the interest continues unabated. ' Have you seen Bruce & McGary's stock of boys' clothing that they are selling out at cost ? i It is the finest seen here. Read j their ad. and then sec their stock.
At (! p. ni., Thursday, some thirty persons sat down to a game dinner at the elegant home of C. I. Worra.ll, host known as the 'bird's nest," on east Kirk wood Avenue. The table was groaning beneath a load (if good tilings that are seldom seen in this country at tlio present day. In addition to nil the sauces and relishes that are the usual embellishments of a fine dinner, there was bear meat, deer meat and the meat of the wild turkey. The dinner was given as a reminder .of a recent hunt in Arkansas, from which some of the most skilled hunters and warriors of this locality had but just returned, and the majority of those present had at some period of their lives been noted for prowess on the battle-liekl or for skill in woodcraft. Many ef these men had been compelled to lie ou the cold ground all night when out coon hunting, but this was nothing to the way they'd lie while seatod ubout the tire relating their
hairbreadth scapes. Kwing Batterton, one of the oldest hunters in tho camp, was carver, and he gave generous slieos of the juicy game to nil who desired it.

The fee and salary law passed by the Legislature of 1891 has been declared unconstitutional so far as county treasurers are concerned; and by implication, so far as it affects auditors and recorders. But tho court holds in another case thst the reduction made by tho same law in fees for recording deeds is binding on recorders. The fee is thus made 1 for recording mortgages instead of 1.25. The grounds upon which the law was found unconstitutional arc that when it was enacted,

It came out of tho trance. The wild turkeys were tho result of Oscar Souder's prowess. One day while hunting he became separated from the others and toward evening saw a flock of wild turkeys alight on an oxtreme-
ner I ly tall pine tree. His rifle would I bring but one bird, and ho wasn't
satisfied with one, go he determined to climb the tree and trust to luck. The birds had alighted near the top. Climbing stealthily to a point some 200 feet from the ground, ho cooned it out ou one
I of those treacherous resinous limbs, i and wrapping his legs about it ; near the trunk of tho tree, made
"a grab tor tho turkeys that wero sitting thickly all about him. He caught the legs of two in each hand, and as he did so tho weight pitched him forward and he went sliding down. Tho limbs on those trees spread out umbrella-like as tlioy near the ground, and ttill holding his turkeys he bounded from limb to limb till the last one was struck, then the turkeys expanded their wings and ho came like a parachute, without a jar, hut with four turkeys alive and flapping. Souder made his way to eamp, and it was the meat of these turkeys that was eaten Thursday night. One night Cal. Worrall was sleeping outside the cabin, tho air being too oppressive inside, when ho was awakened by tho breaking of a twig. 8hining eyes in the darkness led him to believe that cats were numerous there, and being a lover of eats, he called "Pussy! Pussy!'' As the animuls approached him he began to make mesmeric passes over their heads, and oen had them under control, but what waa tho hor. ror of his campmates next morning to iind him sleeping calmly with a panther nestled up to each shoulder ! lie made pets of the hrtitea, and they followed bim about like (legs, but as he desired to preserve their hides, ho was
