Madison Ervin, a former well known citizen of tUs county, who owned a form just south of town, now the property f Wm. Wallingford, met with a horrible death at Cedarville, Ubio, o te day last week. Mr. Ervin remove! to Cedarville several years ago a id was engaged in burning lime, fcr which business the town of Cedarville is principally noted. While working with some machinery his clothing was caught in a belt and he was whirled about it with great rapidity, and one leg was shattered and his head badly crushec". He lived but three or four hour after the accident. He was a brother of Mrs. John Ewing and of Mrs. Thoa. Fa ris of this county, and was a highly esteemed ciiizen. A dispatch front Cedarville, O., gives further details of tbe accident to Maden Ervin, as follows: "J. X. Ervin, a highly respected citizen, mat with an accident this morning, the shook of which caud his death. He owned a corn crasher at Krvin & Co.'s elevator, sad as this wis bU day for running, bad just walked into th-i elevator where the bands wars busy shelling corn. Discovering the corn choking in the carrier be attempted to louen It, when his clothing caught in the machinery and he was burled over once, his right foot catching in a belt, wbr it was so tightly wedged that when tie machinery was stopped they were obliged to cat the belt to extricate him. He died in about three hours alter, the shock leing too great for him. Be was just sixty yean of age. He was a member of the Covenanter church. Ha leaves a wife and :oor children." The mother or city clerk R. C. i reeves died on Friday night last in a very sudden and unexpected manner. As was customary with her she bad assisted in the Utile matters of household work after rapper, and going to her room re tired before 8 p. m. INot long afterward Miss Emma Breeden who looms in the house, heard some peculiar sounds that attracted her to Mrs. G reeves1 bedside, aud found that she seemed to be struggling for breath. Assistance was called, bat her spirit passed away in a few moments. The immediate cause of her death is supposed to be heart disease, as on many occasions she had complained of a severe pain ia her side and s joulder. Mrs. G reeves was 72 years of age, the widow of John J, G reeves, and a life-long member of the M. E. church. Tbe funeral services were conducted by Rev. Halstead and Rev. Reed at tbe family residence, on Sunday afternoon. "All the low dive keepers in that city are clamoring for the managers of the World's Fair to observe Sunday. This will have the effect of giving them the patronage of the immense throng of visitors on that day at least. The only exception to this rule that is recognized by this Board, is in tbe event that small pox is prevalent n epidemic form and the health officer should certify to the impassibility oi obtaining such virus in sufficient quantity and also as to the parity of the humanized virus to be used in lieu of tbe bovine virus.
