While Mr. Burbank was in Evansville recently he met Mrs. Dunning, and he says she protested against a monument being erect ed over her husband's grave here, as she claims that it is her intention to have the remains removed to Evansville just as soon as ahe can perfect the arrangements. She was also very bitter against tbe parties who had made publications of statements that she regarded as untrue and uncalled for, and asked Mr. Burbank to have the foregoing statement published. As far as investigation baa been bad it is shown tliat there is discrepancy in the accounts of Elijah Todd, late Trustee of Polk tp., that will amouut to about six or eight hundred dollars. The county commissioners have been called to meet on Wednesday and give this matter a careful inveatU gntion. Todd owned a farm in Monroe county atul alo one in Lawrence, so hat if a short ige ia shown, his bondsmen will lose, nothing, it is believed.
