DOUBLE their name is legion, whom the fanners have to support is their drone-like existence, tba, we may lay a large part of oar agricultural .depression. Bat President Jordan need sot go oat to country towns in search of parasites. The effect of bring a millionaire's protege may have been to make him so "for sighted" a to be nnable to see the thousands nay millions, of nnriproducers, hindrances to industrial development, that elnster close around their most fully developed types, the millionaires themselves. The broker, commission merchant, hankers, lawyers, et si, msy all be more justly blamed for the "present agricultural depression" than the is time tnst sir. domsn snn the paid sophists of W all street stopped making such ridicu lous assertions, lite American farmer is the most industrious ciliisen of this Republic. Charles Stewart Parnell, from 1887 to 1890, acknowledged leader of the Irish party, died suddenly at his cottage at Brighton, on Wednesday a week. He had been in failing health ever sines the OVJbea divorce suit was instituted, and the recent struggle he had maintained to keep, the leadership of his party, had done much to weaken an already sick man. On Friday he took a severe cold to which he paid no attention, and on Wednesday he peacefully expi.-ed. Five years ago Parnell was" the idol of the patriotic Irishmen, but - his bad morals lost him their respect and he was poshed from his pedestal, lib enemies, and be made many, pleased at his demise, say no good of one who made a brave, patriotic, persistent and what will ultimately prove successful fight for the rights of his country. Parnell was pnr -abed, while living, for his fault, and now only his distinguished patriotic services should be remembered by bis countrymen and hy liberty-loving people of the world. St. Louis Globe-Dem.: All the preachers of Lexington, Ky., united in a denunciation of horseracing last Sunday. Horse-racing is a very great evil, to be sure, ami it is proper tor the clergy to denounce it ; but we doubt i? there is a pastor in Kentucky who would doee the blinds, of his study-win dow it it happened to open on a view of the Lexington track during the great trot of a few days hence between Nancy Hanks and Allerton .a. ine Kansas wheat yield am ounts to 58,000,000 bushels, and the corn crop is estimated at 145,000,000 bushels.
