All this row and pretended wrath about the election bill is merely for political effect. Some politicians are afraid of losing some of their party strength in tbe House, aad some others are afraid of losing their seats in the House. Others see that there is need of a cry and excitement to stir, up party feeling, because, ia Sooth Carolina, the Farmers' Alliaoce is about to captare the State from the Democratic organisation ; in Georgia, it haa captured the Democratic organisation ; ia other Southern States it b dessorsliaiog party plans, aad even in tbe Gibraltar district of! Keotncky baa smashed party fences into smithereens. Some bloodthirsty business is needed to draw tbe formers back to tbe old party standards, and tbe effort. is making tones this election bill for thst purpose. The hypocrisy of tbe outcry against it is shown by tbe foot thst tbe bill applies to every part of tbe country alike, and. if it is the bad bill pretended, it will overthrow tbe party that passes it, and tbe Democratic politicians ought to encourage its passsge as opening a road to victory for them. The death of Hon. D.S. Hufistetter, says the Paoli Repnblieao, has made prominent a point of law in tbe seUIemat of decedents estates which is, aot generally known, because just such cases do not often find a parallel: Section 2458, Re vised Statutes1, nrovedes "that if the intestate shall bave left at bis death, grandchildren only, alive, they shall inherit equally." A Feaslasi Decleloa. Washington, D. C., Sept; 9. Assaiatant Secretary Bussey to-day rendered a decision in the pension case of Wm. R. Johnson, late Corporal of Company K, 8th . Indisna Volunteers, in which -is given an even more liberal construction of the bw relating to "line bt duty" than heretofore. On April 1, 186S, claimant, with the First Sergeant of his company obtained a pass to attend- church across the Green River at Mumiordsville, Ky., at which point his command was gusrding a bridge. While crossing the river on a log claimant fell, fracturing; his left knee. The case wss originally rejected on the ground thst the soldier at the time of tbe accident was not in , line of doty. Assistant Secretary Bussey, however, takes a contrary view, and allows the pension sought. He says: "If the obimant bad by authority of his superior officers been crossing the river for the purpose of obtaining necesKsry physics! sustenance, be would certainly have been in line of duty, it being a necessary incident to the services. To hold that a similar mission for spiritual sustenance, which is also presumed to have been necessary, placed him out of line of duty, woold be depriving our soldiers of Christian teaching, and, therefore, in conflict with military law, which recognises tbe neeessity, or at least the propriety, of it. The claim is allowed." The 8tate Republicans, Wed nesday, nominated a ticket that will compare very favorably with that presented t the public for support by the Democrats. Milton Trusler is a good, old msn, who ought to poll a full vote. Ook I. N. Walker is one of the respected citizens of (he Hooaier eapilsl. He is a good, clean, popular man, and no doubt will lead his ticket in this community, if not in the entire State. Hia neighbors know him and have confidence in him. Geo. Pixley b a strong man, so in HenSI and Lovett, and Worrell, and totter. Will Noble is known to everybody, more or less, snd no person will say aught against him. He not only possesses the respect aad friendship of all who come in. contact with him, bat he is exceedingly popular with bis . party. Taken all in all, the ticket b one that should poll the full vote of the party, Ind. Sua. (Dem ) Death af Brswa TVylie. Brown Wylie died at the home of hi s father, tbe venerable Dr. T. A. Wylie, in this city on Monday night, Sept. 8th. His death was caused by a rapidly developed case of Bright's disease. He came here three weeks ago for a brief visit to his old home expecting to return east within a week. Symptoms of the disease bad manifested themselves some time ago, but. neither he nor his friends were conscious of their nature until the .discovery was made here by the .attending physician, Dr. Weir. He had been affected with nraemic blindness, dixxyAeadacbe, pains ia the bask, and dyspepsis, but he bad not .dared to confirm and reveal to himself the fearful significance of these indications. Only a year ago be was accepted for life insurance after a careful medical examination, tie had been for tbe past two years filling tbe Chair of Physics and Chemistry in a Covenanter College in Beaver Falls, Penney 1 Van ia,and had just been elected to tbe Professorship of Chemistry in the State School of Mines, at Rapid City, South Dakota, at a salary of 81,500. For a number of years be was Associate Professor of Chemistry in the State University, and after resigning from this position be pursued post-graduate' steely in bb special work at the University ot Pennsylvania and the Johns Hopkins University. Two years ago be was called to Beaver Fall, where be has since lived. He was s brother of Theodore W. J.
