He bas devoted his entire time and attention to the details of the work and br conscientious, unsel fish and unremitting labor, bad brought the Preparatory Department up to a point of excellence that challenged the admiration of all school workers and those com petent to pass judgment upon school work. Close application to duty, combined witb his unremitting la bor, has made it seem best for him to test the curative effects of a sea voyage and a tour through a por tion ef Europe, That he may return to his home improved in health nod prepared to add many more years of usefulness to his already well earned reputation is the hearty wish of the Progress. Mr, Spicer, after twenty years of faithful service as Janitor, lias ten dered bis resignation. Uncle Tommy, as tbe boys and girls know bim, has bis place in the history of tbe University. Hoi less warmly nor less strongly does be bold a plaoe in the affections and good will of the generations of students who have gone in and out before him.
