He talked lo same like a horse jockey, to others like a newspaper man and many came to the cnnrluMon that he was a counterfeiter ami shoving the "queer," but on last Friday asorniog it was learned that the gentleaun, whose real name is Harry Webster, with a pnase bad arreatrd Bobert Williams, Henry Craw, Kiley Lindley, Joseph Lowe, Geo. Lee. Samuel Liudley, Charles Walla and Tom Williams, all charged with counterfeiting. They were taken to Indianapolis Friday night by TJ. S. Marshal Menau. Detective Webster and Sheriff Pierce and preliminary heariar was given them Saturday. There seemed to be no case against Tom Williams and be was released. Bob. WH"ms, who is eighty-four years old, waa released on a S500 Crow's bond was placed at $2,000, Lee's 2,000 and the others at 11,000 each. Henry Crow, who claims to be a minister of the Go per and a clock fixer, is said to be the leader ot the gang and made most of the money. Ue was recently invited to dinner

McLean, were conducted at the family residence, No. 1628 Fifteenth street, this afternoon, in .the presence of many friends!. The Bev. Dr. Bartlett, formerly of Indianapolis, now pastor of the New York-avenue Presbyterian church, of this city, delivered a beautiful eulogy and sermon. The remains were deposited in a vault at Glen wood Cemetery, but will be taken out Monday next, and to their old home at Terre Haute, where funeral services will be held on next Wednesday. The pali-bearer,u-day were John L; Biuiihmyer, Heber J. May, Beese Vonrhees, JCdward Hay, (Jen. A. D. Unsbaw and J. W. Nicbol. president and Mrs. Harrison and many others sent, floral offetings. The three-year old trottingstalion, Ax tell, on Friday last, at Terre Haute, trotted a mile in 2:12. After the race the horse was pur chased by a Chicago syndicate for 105,000. Mrs. Jesse Mitchell and Mrs. W. P. Malottof Bedford were the guests last week of Dr. Simpson's family. He got them and now he ill offer, them so cheap that you will find it economy to buy. The Crscrs. Wallace A Co.'s circus arrived from Rockland by rail early Sunday morning. Tbe show proceeded ouiaUy -to tha base, ball grounds. Rare tne tents wore spraai, and a large num. ber of oar citizen visltod the ground during the day and found everything quiet and orderly. The performers, mus- , totans ana managers of the show, took their meals in a dining carat tha railroad station, only a very few stopping at the hotels, while tha canvussmen, hostlers and other laborers ate at lbs ground. The .street parade of the show in the forenoon waa a large and good one. The many very fine horses were especially noticeable. Tba oi reus was n clean and an "St excellent exhibition throughout. Tha riding by Mr. Kwers and Willie O. ueie was superb, and tne "Hying men in tha air," Fisher Brothers, give wonderful performance, equal if not superior to anything we have ever seen here. An alarm of fire Saturday afternoon was turned in from the 3d ward, where a blase had been discovered in a stable attached to the Dryadale house (recently purchased by Mrs. Perdue). The stable was full of hay, and created a great moke and blsxe. It. is supposed that the fire communicsteil through the careless use of a pipe by some one who bad been working about, the stable. The stable was a total loss, and the adjoining buildings were only saved by prompt work. The Horticultural Society closed a three days' successful Fair on Saturday night. No better or larger di&play of choice and fine apples is made by the State Horticultural Society, than was seen in Ryan's Hal). The display of pears, grapes, potatoes, etc. was never surpassed by a county organization. The floral display attracted . unusual attention from both home and foreign visitors. A choice musical program was rendered-?each night. The managers worked, . hard to make the Fair a success and i they have the satisfaction of knowing that they succeeded No. 523 drew a .silver butter dish at the Horticultural Fair, aad was held by Esra Borland. Ab. Ketcbatn had some cabbages that tempted the cab bage hungry. I. Milt Rogers, Gto. Campbell, Wm.Neeld, Cal. Worrall, Wm. Bunger, Jos. Dlnsujore, Ab.Ketcham, Alt, Perring, and others were active in making the Fair a success. Alf. Perring bad a trunk 113 years old, oa exhibition. A silver teapot, 156 frears old, was exhibited by Mrs. Chaa. Alexander. Premiums will be paid upon presentation a C. K. Worrell's office.
